?? ??Super Bowl... Friday? ???? This past Friday, Taconic's Employee Engagement Team held a Super Bowl party to kick off the weekend of the big game. Employees from all departments gathered at lunch for pizza, games, a buffalo chicken dip competition, and to catch highlights of previous Super Bowls. As a market leader in the manufacture of high temperature materials, Taconic has engineered a series of superior premium products to act as the most efficient and cost-effective release surface for hand lay-up and open mould composites that will help deliver top quality Wind Turbine Blades with maximum number of cycles. Taconic’s self-adhesive tape acts as a flexible self-adhesive release liner during the hand lay-up process of Wind Turbine Blades conforming to the mould with its high release, non-stick surface whilst also allowing for cleanest removal from the moulded composite part. In such open moulded processing, the mould is lined with a PTFE coated adhesive tape and provides an advantage over fabric for those complex shapes, as it is conformable and will stay firmly in place. Once the PTFE lined mould is filled with the resin, curing occurs, and the PTFE tape releases easily and cleanly from the mould. This ensures less clean-up and a faster turnaround between cycles. Flexible packaging, or the process of forming polybags, combines high-speed heat seal impacts with high temperatures. Through continual operation at high temperatures, high-speed polyfilm conversion machines rapidly breakdown inferior nonstick PTFE tape, fabric, and belting materials used to produce clean heat seals. The result - shut down of these machines for tape or fabric ‘changeover’ leading to lower productivity and an overall reduction in total bags made.
