关于我们

The Tacoma Refugee Choir is a welcoming community of refugees, immigrant, and friends who sing together to extend love, hope, and belonging. In its first four years, the Tacoma Refugee Choir led by Erin Guinup has welcomed over 600 members from over 50 countries, and performed for over 25,000 people at community, educational and government audiences, including WE Day, Race & Pedagogy National Conference, and the Families Belong Together Rally in collaboration with Grammy-winning recording artists and political leaders. This unique non-auditioned choir received standing ovations at TEDxSeattle and have been featured on PBS and network television sharing their unique combination of hope, integration, empowerment, advocacy, and entertainment. This non-auditioned choir united by the plight of refugees and the conviction that everyone has a voice to contribute. Though we as individuals may feel powerless to change conditions for the 65 million people displaced by wars, famine, and natural disasters, we are not powerless to ensure that those who find themselves in our community are welcomed and loved.

  • You may have heard there's a zebra on the loose in the Pacific Northwest and there's been plenty of sightings around town. Maybe he will stop by our concert this Saturday? After all, we are singing a new song in Swahili (one of FIVE new songs written by choir members for this concert). The concert also features Congolese singer Providence Kamana, Venezuelan ensemble Tumbarrancho Gaitero, Egyptian tabla player George Sadak and Mayor Victoria Woodards. We hope you and Z the Zebra stop by! P.S. Our African members have informed me that the correct pronunciation is ZAY-bra not ZEE-bra.
