Looking forward to #NLELC24 next week! SAIH director Dr. LaMont Green, DSW, LSWAIC will be one of the keynote speakers, & others from our community will be there too. Good stuff at the right time. #CenteringLivedExperience
To effectively address homelessness, solutions must center people with lived experience of homelessness. At next week’s 2024 National Lived Experience Leadership Conference, attendees will learn about the creation of Lived Experience Advisory Boards from different regions: Jodi Bergman and Eric Richert will share the development and growth of the Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Sheryl Norteye and Alyson Greene will outline the development, implementation, and impact of two County-sponsored Lived Expertise Action Boards in Santa Cruz County, California. Quincy Brown and Charles Porter will present on the collaboration of community members, government partners, and homeless service providers to address homelessness in the Los Angeles Skid Row neighborhood. Stay tuned for more conference updates and session highlights: bit.ly/LEConference24 #NLELC24 #CenteringLivedExperience

Eight states and the District of Columbia are participating in this 12-month learning collaborative, which provides a peer-engaged forum and focused TA to improve cross-sector efforts across state and local agencies to optimize resources, cover resource gaps, align state and local policies, and deliver more integrated and seamless services. Register now for an informational webinar about next year’s HSPA opportunity on October 30, 1:00-2:00 ET! https://lnkd.in/edXZnkTk

TAC Sr. Consultant Ryan R. MacG. Springer is keeping us updated on the The Kennedy Forum's #Align4Progress conference! Love this post from Child Mind Institute Dave Anderson's presentation on the 4 S's of effective prevention.
Prevention is key in addressing the youth mental health crisis. Mr. Anderson referenced his 4 S's for effective prevention programs: Stigma: Break down stigma and encourage open conversations. Screening: Implement effective screening to identify those in need. Skills: Teach evidence-based coping and resilience skills. Set Up: Adapt programs to fit specific community needs. #MentalHealth #Prevention #YouthMentalHealth #KennedyForum #AlignmentForProgress

Check out this new resource from the Bipartisan Policy Center, produced by a great team including TAC consultants Laura Conrad, Rebecca Boss, & Dayana Simons! #socialmedia #youthmentalhealth #livedexperience
?? Exciting news! The Bipartisan Policy Center’s Youth Mental Health and Substance Use Task Force released its first brief, focused on youth and social media, along with a new survey with insights directly from teens and young adults. As the House Energy and Commerce Committee prepares to markup historic children's online safety bills tomorrow, here are some important things to note from BPC's work: ??55% of young adults and almost 40% of teens say they want to learn strategies to manage their time and safety on social media. ??This is especially true for teens and young adults who have experienced ongoing distress related to their substance use and mental health. ??Giving youth, their caregivers, and those working with children and students access to more tools to stay safe and manage their time online is not only critical, but absolutely achievable. With so much at stake for the nation’s youth, now is the time for Congress, policymakers, and the broader technology community to make kids' safety online a priority. First and foremost, I would like to thank our amazing task force co-chairs former Governor Steve Beshear, former Representative Val Demings, former Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler, and former Governor and Representative John Kasich for their leadership! Thanks also to our brilliant task force members Kana Enomoto, Angela Kimball, Patrice Harris MD, MA, Noopur Agarwal, Sandy Chung, Vikki Wachino, James Carroll, Amy Kennedy, Sophie Szew, and Michael Schmitt. Lastly, thanks to our amazing BPC staff who have supported this work for over a year Michele Gazda, MPH, Danielle Draper, Sabine Neschke, Gabe Loud, and Emma Sheffert, MPH!
