I spent a little time in a service tech's shoes today, changing out the radio at my house for a new millimeter-wave based system that we are testing out. There were a few bugs to work out with our processes, but the end result is that I have a gigabit speed fixed wireless running in my house and the capacity available to hit another hundred or so homes in my neighborhood. The best part is that we didn't have to hang any strand, dig any trenches or drill under any roads to do it, and the total cost of deployment of the last mile portion averages out to $300 per user added. Fiber performance for exponentially less cost and no construction issues? YES PLEASE!!!
