Did you know 30% of TABLE’s purchased fresh food was bought from local farmers last year? ?? It is because of our farm partners we can provide our kids with a variety of seasonal, fresh food that, in most cases, is delivered to them the same day it is harvested from the farm. Sankofa Farms is a multifaceted agricultural entity that seeks to assist in changing the food intake habits of those living in and affected by food deserts. Their goal is to create a sustainable food source for minorities in both rural and urban areas located in Durham and Orange County. Wildflower Lane Farm is a small organic, regenerative farm located in western Orange County. The farm is 24 acres, with one acre dedicated to growing organic produce for TABLE, along with an outdoor kitchen and dining area for events. Volunteer labor powers the farm, while TABLE provides for the materials. This formula allows Wildflower Lane to grow and deliver fresh organic produce the same day it is picked at a cost of 20% of the normal retail cost found in stores. Gabor Farms, Veteran owned, began its inception as a traditional farm in 2016. In 2020 during the food crisis, they removed 2 acres of forestry and planted multiple 100’ grow tunnels, new strawberry beds, and additional specialty melon beds. During the height of COVID, they introduced mushrooms to their growing operation due to their nutrient density, versatility, and ability to scale as needed. Farmer Foodshare is a food hub that bridges the gap between farmers and customers. They source fresh food year-round from small and mid-scale North Carolina farms and producers and sell it wholesale to a host of organizations — schools and universities, grocery stores and restaurants, and hunger relief agencies. Elysian Fields Farm was founded in 2001 and is now entering its 24th year in production and CSA management. They attend the Saturday Carrboro Farmers’ Market yet have always been primarily a CSA farm and deliver to our members twice weekly. Thank you all!

Last weekend we had the great opportunity to volunteer at TABLE! #UNCFootball and #Heels4Life athletes helped pack 250 bags of non perishable food for hungry children in our community. We’re grateful for our partnership with TABLE and are looking forward to tonight’s fundraiser to support their work even more! Did you know nearly 7,000 children in Orange County, North Carolina are on free and reduced meals? That's 1 in 3 kids who can be considered food insecure. TABLE was founded in 2008 to help alleviate food insecurity among children living in Orange County by providing local kids with healthy, fresh food and nutrition education. We started serving 12 kids at one elementary school and have grown our programs to deliver food directly to the homes of 950 kids every week. Since 2008, TABLE has distributed over 2,880,000 healthy meals and snacks to local children. Through our food access and nutrition education programs, our goals are to improve children’s overall health; increase children’s knowledge of nutrition, positive attitudes toward healthy eating, and/or long-term healthy eating habits; ensure kids and families are engaged, involved, and feel dignified; and ensure kids have access to and eat sufficient nutritious food. Over the last year, TABLE has achieved some remarkable milestones including completing our Capital Campaign raising $3.25 million to purchase and renovate our new building, raising over $300k at our annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser - the most successful Empty Bowls ever, and moving into our new space where initially we will feed 1,000 kids with a goal to reach 3,000 children! As TABLE grows more everyday, TABLE is facing a challenge we have never seen in our history: a waitlist of over 300 kids and growing. We are living in a time where inflation is at its highest and it’s challenging to reach more donors. We need help now more than ever if we want to continue to give the children in our community healthy, sustainable lives.
