November is the month for epic vineyard photos here in Paso Robles! This week, Proprietor Jason Haas took a walk through the vineyard to document the beautiful scenery all around us. From his introduction: "Something about November just hits different. Maybe it's the lower sun angles. Maybe it's the clouds. Maybe it's the fall colors. Or maybe it's that daylight savings has ended, so I'm here at the vineyard as the sun sets each day. Whatever the reason, it's a month where I find myself grabbing my camera and walking west to chase the setting sun more often than any other." Paso Robles Is Ridiculously Beautiful Right Now, Autumn Transition Edition! We've had a hot last few months, but by the middle of last week, it was clear that the weather was changing. This week is forecast to top out, most days, in the 70s. And clouds are creating some spectacular skies. On this week's blog, Proprietor Jason Haas takes us for a walk on one of these particularly beautiful evenings. https://lnkd.in/gXR7g-CF

This is our full-time crew here at Tablas Creek. They were here every morning between 2 AM and 3 AM, picking the fruit we brought in for harvest. Most of them have worked with us for over two decades, and all of them have been with us through multiple vintages. It is hard to fully express our gratitude to them for their hard work and consistently positive attitudes. The work continues. Yesterday they gathered to recap harvest and plan out what's next for the vineyard. They set our cover crop planting plan in motion, mapped out where we'll move our sheep, and picked out spots to pull our Yeomans Plow to prepare for rainfall this winter. Thank you, Crew!

That’s a wrap! This bin of Grenache is the last to be picked off our estate from the 2024 harvest. A series of heatwaves and cooldowns made it hard to predict when we might finish picking fruit, but we made it through, and we're happy with the result! We're seeing some of the highest-quality fruit we have seen, and with a happy, healthy vineyard and team. There's still plenty of work to do in the cellar for the next few weeks, but for now we'll celebrate this milestone. Cheers!

In our newest blog post, Jason celebrates the recent decision to restore free parking in downtown Paso Robles.? ? If you weren't aware of the debate, back in 2019 the city council implemented a new kiosk-based parking system for eight square city blocks around the downtown park, with the goal of maintaining open parking spaces for visitors near the restaurant and retail destinations they were hoping to visit. Sounds great, right? Except the devil is in the details. The system the city chose turned out to be expensive, clunky to use, and unpopular among locals and visitors alike. That kicked off a five-year saga that was finally resolved in May, when the city council voted to remove the system and restore free parking in downtown Paso. ? Why did it take so long? And why was it so contentious? Jason dusts off his economics degree to argue that it was so difficult to resolve because it pitted two core theories of behavioral economics against each other: the Theory of Price and the Sunk Cost Trap.? ? Read his full analysis of the saga on the Tablas Creek blog. And meanwhile, head downtown, support the businesses there, and enjoy the plentiful free parking! https://lnkd.in/gnAHqBk9

Last week, reviewer Matthew Luczy's published his Paso Robles report focusing for Robert Parker Wine Advocate. His introduction to Tablas Creek was maybe the nicest thing a reviewer has ever written about us:? ? "Tablas Creek is a singular gem in the world of California wine. Very few wineries can successfully straddle producing an accessible array of entry-level wines, a diverse and complete set of middle-range curiosities and world-class top cuvées, all while leading the way through intentional, progressive farming. No other producer in Paso Robles, and few in all of California, can approach the versatility and thoughtfulness across such a diverse lineup while maintaining an unwavering stance that highlights balance, nuance and timelessness."? ? His reviews of our wines were outstanding too. They included our 2022 Panoplie, which at 96 points tied for the highest rating of any wine from the report.? ? Other highlights included new releases like the 2022 Esprit de Tablas (95 points), 2022 Esprit de Tablas Blanc (94 points), and 2022 En Gobelet (94+ points); as well as wines yet to be released, like the 2022 Le Complice (94 points), and 2022 Mourvedre (94 points). ? ?
