Forecasting load counts and margin 2 weeks ahead of time is hard…..but doesn’t have to be. How often does your leadership ask what the next weeks will look like? How often do you respond with…”we have X more loads booked then we normally do a week in advance” This isn’t a projection. You can project load count and margin if you track your quote volume by doing this: 1. Track all of you inbound quote requests (hard to manually do, easy with automation) 2. Uncover your win/loss percentage in a customer level. 3. Uncover you avg lead time on a customer level. 4. Now do the math with a basic report or Excel table. Have your quote request volume entered, factor in win/loss percentage and apply your lead time to the won quotes. Now you can project future load count and margin on your spot freight and make your leadership happy.
