The Eversense 365 CGM system recently received FDA clearance for use in adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Eversense 365 has a sensor that lasts for one year and is fully implantable under the skin and uses a removable transmitter. The US launch for Eversense 365 is expected in Q4 2024. Meet Mary Pat Gallagher, MD, a pediatric endocrinologist and an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where she serves as the Division Director of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes. Dr. Gallagher is also the Medical Director of the Fink Ambulatory Care Center and the Pediatric Diabetes Center at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone Health in New York City. In this interview, Dr. Gallagher discusses her involvement with the T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative as a pediatric endocrinologist and scientist focused on improving the lives of children and adolescents living with diabetes. We integrated CGM data and survey responses to better understand the relationship between CGM metrics and diabetes distress. Through this study, we found that about 40% of our participants experience higher levels of diabetes distress, and that higher distress appears to be associated with spending more time in above-target glucose ranges.
