We are pleased to announce that Chasity Biggerstaff, APRN, has joined the T.J. Health Columbia Primary Care team. Chasity obtained her Associate of Science in Nursing at Western Kentucky University and her Master of Science in Nursing at Walden University. Having worked for T.J. Regional Health for 9 years during her career, Chasity is very excited to return to the organization as a nurse practitioner. She said, “I worked for T.J. as an LPN and RN, holding different positions, and it is the most family oriented atmosphere I had ever worked among. I built a family in every department I worked. It feels like I’m going back home.” Chasity has worked in healthcare for 19 years, starting her career as a CNA. “I love the nursing approach and the relationships that we develop with our patients,” she said. “I enjoy practicing medicine because I am able to have those relationships and do everything I can to help my pa-tients from a higher level.” In her spare time, Chasity loves to crochet and spend time with her family. She and her husband, Andy, have three children and three fur babies. Chasity is now seeing patients age one year through all stages of adulthood. We are pleased to share that our Post Graduate Year 1 Pharmacy Residency Program was recently granted full accreditation by the American Society Of Health-System Pharmacists Inc (ASHP)! The program earned accreditation for a full eight years, the maximum time allowed for an accreditation cycle. This decision by ASHP assures the high quality and reflects the strength of the T.J. Samson Community Hospital PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program. Congratulations to our Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program on achieving full accreditation! Earning the maximum eight-year accreditation is a testament to the quality of our training program and dedication of our preceptors. This recognition from ASHP highlights the strength of the T.J. Samson Community Hospital Pharmacy Department’s commitment to training and excellence in pharmacy practice. Well done!

?U.S. News & World Report Names the Skilled Nursing Unit at T.J. Samson Community Hospital Among the Best in Kentucky ? The Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU) at T.J. Samson Community Hospital has once again been recognized as a Best Nursing Home for short-term rehabilitation for 2025 by U.S. News & World Report. The annual Best Nursing Homes ratings, now in their 15th year, assist prospective residents and their families in making informed decisions in consultation with their medical professionals about where to receive short-term nursing home care. For 2025, U.S. News rated more than 15,000 nursing homes on care, safety, infection rates, staffing, and health inspections and only 19% of those facilities earned the “Best Nursing Home” designation. The Skilled Nursing Unit at T.J. Samson provides skilled nursing care, skilled rehabilitation, and other medical services on a daily basis to patients who are under the direct supervision of a physician. A licensed nurse or therapist works with individuals with disabilities or medical problems requiring daily therapy, nursing intervention or observation—but who do not require a hospital setting. The Best Nursing Homes methodology factors data such as resident care, safety, and outcomes. To calculate the Best Nursing Homes ratings, U.S. News evaluated each nursing home’s performance using a variety of data obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The short-term rehabilitation rating also includes measures of a home’s success in preventing falls, preventing serious infections, and making sure residents are able to return home.??

Angel works on the Med-Surg stations and makes a difference in the lives of her patients every day. Below is her nomination. Congratulations, Angel!? "I want to start out by saying this nurse truly is an angel for our 90 year old mother. When she met Angel for the very first time, we saw that she was truly fitting of the name Angel! My mother said, “She was meant to be my nurse”. We were at a loss as to what was going on with her and Angel worked tirelessly trying to keep her comfortable and explain everything she was doing. When we would call the nurse’s station, she would respond. She was so easy to talk to and had compassion and empathy, not only for us but also for her coworkers. When we were leaving the hospital, she told us her grandmother’s name was the same as my mother’s name. She stood out as a nurse that would do this for all of her patients. This nurse truly is an Angel!"
