: Yesterday, our Founder and Executive Director, Jasmine M. Jackson, attended North Carolina's Superintendent, Maurice "Mo" Green's, "Mo Wants to Know" Listening and Learning Series. It was a great session to hear from fellow educators and non-profit leaders, celebrate milestones, and discuss pain points in North Carolina public schools. They learned about the different threat actors and breaches from PlayStation and eBay and checked to see if they were part of a breach using haveibeenpwned.com. Finally, we wrapped up the day learning about social engineering, authorization, and multi-factor authentication. Next up, python! The accelerators continued learning of #offensive and #defensive cybersecurity roles by becoming digital forensic investigators, offensive hackers, and SOC (security operations center) analysts! When asked at the end of class if their answers from last week changed after they stepped into the cyber roles, we found that they were more excited about the offensive side of cyber. : ? A FULL HOUSE! ? The weather was gloomy and rainy on our first day of the Winter 2025 Cybersecurity Workshop, but that didn't stop the accelerators from showing up and out! We had students from #WestCharlotteHighSchool (WCHS) and our Techsplosion event at AvidXchange, Inc. What a great way to keep the party going by exposing the youth to tech and cyber! Our first class focused on the different areas of cyber— #offensive and #defensive— and briefly examined the various careers in each area. When asked which side of cyber the accelerators were interested in, the majority said it was offensive, which is the standard response.
