This project is just one of many forward-thinking, energy-efficient upgrades the City has invested in to create a brighter, more sustainable future. The SES team joined SVCE for the "Resilience with Backup Energy Storage" project ribbon-cutting event at the Town of Los Altos Hills. This new microgrid will allow the facility to operate on renewables only for up to 72 hours during a grid outage.
Another resilience project has been completed through the SVCE Community Grants Program. Los Altos Hills recently celebrated its backup battery storage and interactive kiosk projects at Town Hall. The energy backup system connects to a preexisting solar array, and residents can engage with the interactive educational kiosk outside Town Hall to learn more about the renewable energy system. The projects received a combined $120,000 in SVCE grant funding. “It’s great to see Los Altos Hills build upon their solar array and increase not only community resiliency, but also demonstrate fiscal responsibility,” said Los Altos Hills Councilmember and SVCE Board Vice Chair George Tyson. “The Town will save on energy costs during normal operations by recharging during off-peak hours when energy is cheaper, and offloading power back to the grid when energy is more expensive at peak demand.”? On Friday we celebrated the Yolo County Office of Education (YCOE) and the launch of their School Resiliency and Sustainability Project. This event marks history in the making, as YCOE is the first county office of education in the United States to operate an independent microgrid. This groundbreaking initiative positions YCOE as a national leader in sustainable energy and school resiliency. Syserco Energy Solutions is a proud partner in this amazing project!
