While winter invites hibernating, the month of March finds the Poster Project in full swing, polishing the posters that come out in April, and appealing to businesses to sponsor the annual series. In days of yore, we used Adobe Reader to open and read PDFs. But we couldn’t create PDFs or edit them. In fact, we thought PDFs could not be edited! Eventually, we woke up. Today, subscribing to Adobe Acrobat for nonprofits, we are PDF wizards. We can create PDFs, rearrange PDF pages, edit PDFs, and lock them to prevent changes. We encourage our nonprofit peers to join this school of wizardry by taking advantage of Adobe’s special deals for nonprofits, especially Acrobat for nonprofits (https://lnkd.in/er27W2ct), and another powerful tool for creating content, Adobe Express. Camping Out at Parthenon Bookstore Thank you to Parthenon, downtown's independent bookstore, for inviting us to camp out on this frigid January day. Camping out lets us break out of our office routines, meet new people, and introduce the Poster Project to a broader audience. If you want to enliven your own workplace, consider inviting the Poster Project to camp out at your office. Seriously! Here our happy campers are Naomi Masingale, graphic designer and outreach coordinator, and Scott Herrmann, sales and marketing officer. And while we brought our own marshmallows, we relied on Parthenon for coffee. Said Naomi: "Their mixed drinks--I call them mixed drinks when they're something other than straight coffee--are pretty good. Compared to the seasonal drinks at other cafe's, the drinks here a cozier." Under the Underpass Always encouraging to see more public art being created in Syracuse. Here we document the recent painting of three murals along the Onondaga Creekwalk near Franklin Square. The Project was funded by Tomorrow's Neighborhoods Today and coordinated by Linda Llewellyn and Maren King. Artists Ally Walker, Susie Cody, and Clove Flores painted the murals. Clove, we note, also partcipates in the Poster Project's annual call for artists. Her illustrations have been featured in the 2024 and 2023 poster series. The video depicts a celebration of the completed murals, Nov. 9. Soundtrack: "The Place That Never Gets Old" from the album "It's Time for Adventure, Vol. 3," released Feb. 21, 2017.
