Today marks 5 years since the funeral service for U.S. Air Force veteran John James Murphy, a moment that inspired Operation Love at Symonds-Madison. On January 29, 2020, hundreds of veterans, service members, and civilians gathered to honor Murphy, who had no known relatives. He was laid to rest with full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, surrounded by a community that refused to let him be forgotten.
