Smart Woman Securities ? (SWS) is a non-profit organization focused on educating undergraduate women about finance and investing. The organization’s primary mission is to provide the guidance and resources young women need to be successful in the financial services industry. SWS is dedicated to educating its members in the classroom as well as providing interactive experiences outside the classroom that allow members to engage with successful professionals in the financial industry and expand their network. Participants build their financial knowledge through weekly seminars, one-on-one mentoring sessions, hands-on portfolio management, and networking events with successful bankers, accountants, and investors. In the past, associates have had the chance to meet the famed Warren Buffett at his headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska! SWS Fordham operates four main programs which include a Fall and Spring Seminar Series, Investment Project, Equity Research Team, and the annual Women In Leadership Conference (WILC).

Jason DiGiacinto, Brittany Gesell, Eliza Jetzer, Anna Harvey and Jessica Sturchio gave much insight into the variety of careers at EY and their experiences thus far! Another great seminar in the books. Our Professional Development was led by our CSO, Alena Godas in perfecting our Resumes!

We had two former E-Boards, Lois van Weringh and Grace Oakey return and share much insight of their undergraduate experiences and commitments that supported their journey into Private Equity at Blackstone and Radial Equity Partners! We also had Valentina Resano, a current associate and PM on the SWS Fund, deliver this week’s Professional Development Topic, giving insight for students in Fordham College looking to work in Finance.
