To quote the great Liz Lathan, CMP: "If it's boring to plan, it's going to be boring to attend." So why are we still planning cookie-cutter events? Let's ditch the predictable lunches, long check-in lines, and awkward networking. Liz, Nicole Osibodu, XOXO, and Jihan Donawa Gibson got together last week to chat about building experiences attendees actually want to relive. Watch now (it's a fast 30 minutes!): https://lnkd.in/gkCYe3u5 P.S. What's *your* favorite way to create an unconventional event? ??

We're starting a petition to ban boring company offsites. Who's in? Jihan Donawa Gibson is starting the movement off strong with her top five tips for creating events that employees love. ?? What would you add?
Ever been to a company offsite that could have been an email? Don't do that to your employees. Yes, you're bringing them together to align on your company goals but that doesn't mean your offsite has to be cookie cutter sit in a general session all day and then listen to some guy named Ted on how to be a better seller. (Sorry to all the Teds.) Take a look at my starting tips on how Swoogo doesn't bore their employees and let me know your internal event must haves! #events #companyoffsite #eventprof #eventmarketing

Register. Arrive. Get a badge. Sit through sessions. Drink sh*t coffee. Go to a lackluster reception. Leave. Sounds like your typical event, right? Sounds like a bunch of mundane moments. How can you take these totally normal parts of an event and turn them into experiences so unconventional that your attendees forget where they are? That's what we're talking about Feb. 12 with Club Ichi co-founders and event engagement legends Liz Lathan, CMP and Nicole Osibodu, XOXO. Sign up to join us: https://lnkd.in/gFjG5da6

What happens when you host a company offsite in Florida in January, but a once-in-a-lifetime storm strands your team in four inches of snow? You don't care because you're: ?? enjoying beautiful sunsets ?? making snow angels on the beach ?? having one heck of an 80s party ?? connecting with your coworkers ?? planning for an incredible year Shout-out to Henderson Beach Resort for the unreasonable hospitality they showed us last week!

Event pros: what are you focused on this year? Maybe adding more personal touches to your events, getting better at using event data, or figuring out how AI can help take a load off? We asked 500 event pros about what they’re expecting for this year. All of these (and more) came up. A few other gems we learned: ?? Companies investing in micro events are killing it. They’re 15% more likely to have an average growth rate of 20% or more. ?? Hybrid events are declining like crazy. 47% said they’ve hosted them in the past but have no plans to host them in the future. ?? Keeping customers is a priority for so many. Companies that use events mainly for retention are 13% more likely to see 10%+ growth. We’ll be sharing more takeaways from the report over the next several weeks. If you don’t want to wait, you can read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gzTHttej
