Over the last two weeks, 6 innovative startups from Switzerland headed to Austin and Houston to get a sense and learn more about the US business mindset. ??The program helped participants develop new ideas, practices, and models aiming to provide them with strategic advice to internationalize, visibility and a home base to succeed in the US. Our participants had the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge with each other as well as with our workshops hosts. The program featured cohort sessions, individual coaching, networking event, visits and a pitch event! ??The program wasn't just about learning; it was about action. Participants took part in our pitch event – Swiss Startup Night: Pitches & Brisket, the occasion for them to pitch their project. The event attracted ~60 attendees including founder, VC and more. Our startups also participated in visits such as the Texas Medical Center Innovation during which they had the opportunity to present their work. ??Thank you to all of our program participants for being present and engaged during our workshops, and our hosts for sharing their knowledge and creating a space in which we can look critically at our work and receive the support of experts and peers. ??This program was powered by Innosuisse and managed by Swissnex in San Francisco. ?? The Multimedia Lab for Journalists, a two-week program focusing on the future of journalism and multimedia storytelling in an AI-driven world, took place from August 12 to August 23. We had the pleasure of hosting ten journalists from Switzerland's biggest media houses, and this is what they have to say about the program. ?? ??Today marks the end of the first week of our Startup Camp, powered by Innosuisse and managed by Swissnex in San Francisco. ??This first week took place in Austin, Texas. Next week, our program participants will head to Houston for a second intensive week of camp. ??What happened this week? Our program participants had the opportunity to take part in various workshops, among them “Incorporation Strategy”, “Business Insurance and Risk Management”, “CPA and Financial Structuring”, “Brand Strategy”, “Sales and GTM”, and “HR Session” ?? ??Through these sessions, the participants learned more about the US business mindset and immersed themselves in the Texas startup ecosystem. ??The highlight of this first week was our pitch event on Wednesday November 6, with over 50 attendees, this pitch night was our first in Texas. The program participants presented their projects to other founder, VC and more. We want to thank everyone who attended and a special thank you to our participants for being part of the success of this special evening! ??The camp is not over, so stay tuned for more! And that’s a wrap! Today is the end of our Discovery Tour with Nursing Leaders from the Ct. Vaud! ?? Vaud with our key academic partner La Source School of Nursing for a week of immersion in the Bar Area healthcare ecosystem. It was a first time for a Vaud Nursing Delegation to come to the US for a trend discovery tour and we're delighted to have been the door opener for them. This one week program was designed to support nurses and hospital leaders in learning about the best practices in nursing in the US and specially in California—particularly with regards to nurse-patient-ratios and delivering top-notch patient care. Over the last week, our Delegation took part in various learning sessions, visits, and meeting with peers. Join us in welcoming Manuel Arias Chao to San Francisco ??. He joins us as part of Swissnex’s Impact Sabbatical program, which allows Swiss researchers, professors, and lecturers to spend an Impact Sabbatical at Swissnex in San Francisco. ?? Manuel Arias Chao is a Senior Lecturer for the ZHAW School of Engineering at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. He is particularly interested in the Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) that play a vital role in the global energy landscape, providing a significant share of electricity worldwide. With an imperative to ensure their safety and efficiency, a strategic shift towards digitalization has happened. The NPP industry is currently exploring digital technologies, automation, and data-driven approaches to enhance maintenance practices. Through this program, Manuel seeks to exchange insights, share expertise, and contribute to ongoing advancements in nuclear power plant technology. He aims to foster knowledge exchange between ZHAW and NPP experts in digitalization, exploring technology transfer opportunities to enhance ongoing projects at the ZHAW, initiate collaborative research projects addressing challenges in predictive maintenance, digital twin development, and condition-based monitoring, and strengthen international networks for future collaborative opportunities. The sabbatical program at Swissnex is designed to immerse participants in the vibrant innovation ecosystem of the San Francisco Bay Area, offering them access to new ideas, connections to a local audience, and support in further developing their research projects. ??
