Thanks to our creative partner Andreas Endregaard who produced the interview between our Founder Jonathon Dues & Advisory Board Member Arne Duncan

Arne Duncan sits down with Swish House CEO Jonathon Dues to discuss his love of basketball, working diligently to reduce gun violence in Chicago and why he joined the Swish House team. A couple months back I was presented with the opportunity to produce and film this sit down interview with Arne, to announce him joining the SH Advisory Board. Due to Arne’s profile and schedule, we only had bout 45 minutes to shoot this. For those not in the know, Arne is a lifelong Chicago resident who served as CEO of Chicago Public Schools before becoming the U.S. Secretary of Education under President Barack Obama. Arne played college ball at Harvard University, professionally overseas in Australia and still plays daily as basketball not only helps his physical, but mental health as well. Throughout the last several years Arne has worked diligently to reducing gun violence in Chicago through his organizations Chicago CRED and 'One City Basketball. ‘One City’ collaborates with 28 violence-prevention organizations through the game of basketball. Arne has extensive educational leadership and a deep basketball history - having someone of his stature on the SH Advisory Board allows SH to continue creating opportunities for schools, universities, non-profit orgs and private basketball facilities to maximize their gym assets, falling in line with the mission of SH. Because of that, the primary goals of this interview from a marketing standpoint were to continue building upon SH’s credibility while raising the brand’s image even further in hopes of providing opportunities for SH to grow and expand. The full interview isn't up yet but you can head over to the Swish House page to see some of the other interview prompts. Fun fact: this was shot the day my car was stolen ?? Shot on location at Mercy Home for Boys & Girls with Lana Mattice #onset #cinematographers #sonycine #sonyfx3 #directors #sportsvideography #mentalhealthmatters

I write to humans who want to find their inner athlete again. >>> Join my Dear Athlete newsletter below <<<

I find laughing combined with exercise or sport is natural medicine for an anxious mind. Find those people and sporty things that make you laugh, giggle like a child, sweat, move your body, and smile more naturally. If authenticity isn’t knocking, go door to door to find it. And once you find it, double down and let it in— it makes life worth sharing. One thing is for certain, you definitely won’t get closer to laughter and feeling good if you don’t risk anything to look. My advice: Try a local run club or fitness community. Soul Cycle. CrossFit. Hyrox. Pickleball. Swish House. Walk to a comedy club. Hike with your partner. One question remains for you answer: are you willing to risk rejection or feeling anxious in the short term to diminish it in the long term?

Meet Swish House Advisory Board Member, Arne Duncan who recently sat down with our CEO Jonathon Dues inside of our original Chicago Community Gym Partner, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls… Arne is a lifelong Chicago resident who served as CEO of Chicago Public Schools before becoming U.S. Secretary of Education under President Barack Obama. The last several years Arne has dedicated his career to reducing gun violence in Chicago through his organization, Chicago CRED. At age 59, the former pro baller and Harvard University star still plays ?? daily. Arne has used his passion for hoops to stay physically fit his whole life. Equally as important, he considers ?? his mental therapy to help deal with a tremendous amount of stress in his line of work. Arne’s deep educational leadership & ?? pedigree helps Swish House continue to create opportunities for schools, universities, non profit organizations, and private hoops facilities to maximize their gym assets. And, to prove this, we are thrilled to announcements on this aspect of our business model: 1. Chicago is opening a flagship, co-branded gym in Fulton Market at Bennett Day School under the leadership of Kristin Heidloff to add to our gym partnerships with University of Illinois Chicago, Mercy Home, & The Frances Xavier Warde School 2. New York City’s business led by Paul Vitelli is adding an amazing new Community Gym Partner on the Upper East Side at Loyola School to add to our partnerships with The Post BK in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and Léman Manhattan Preparatory School in the Financial District. Chicago and NYC, let’s connect, let’s hoop and be prepared for Arne to ?? beat you in all the shooting contests - even when he’s in his 60s!

Do You Still Hoop?… “I’m old & have no knees—but go when I can” ?? Episode 3: Paul Vitelli (COO, Swish House) ???? ---------- We met up with Paul to experience a?Swish House workout. Paul shared how these “SoulCycle” basketball fitness classes are for anyone—whether you played at an elite level or have never dribbled a basketball. Beyond the fitness part, he emphasized the value of community, something he cherished while playing?college basketball at Yale University and pro basketball in Italy. As the class went on, he reflected on his journey to Swish House and how much the company has grown since he joined in November 2021. Only 2-3 people used to show up to the workouts when he started. But now, classes like this have 30+ people showing up on Fridays at 7am ?? Having worked in corporate for 10+ years before Swish House, he is now in a job he loves—working to get more people access to basketball. Watch to find out Paul’s pre-game meal at Yale… And why he ended huddles by saying “Best Friends.” ---------- Regular Hoops ?? filmed, edited, and produced this video.
