USF is one of 390 colleges and universities recognized this week by the Princeton Review as the top Higher Ed institutions in the United States. The Princeton Review includes approximately 15 percent of four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. USF is also one of eight “standout schools” in this year’s list. The eight highlighted schools were recognized for excellence in areas such as most diverse student body (USF), most countries represented, most need-based scholarships, and highest four-year graduation rate. In developing the list, the company surveyed more than 168,000 students across the country. More at USF News: https://bit.ly/3X2gKcp

We invite you to join this summertime conversation with one of the country’s most insightful writers on the relationship between Zionism and Judaism. What is exile? What is diaspora? What is Zionism? Jewish identity today has been shaped by prior generations’ answers to these questions, and the future of Jewish life will depend on how we respond to them in our own time. In?The Necessity of Exile: Essays from a Distance, rabbi and scholar Shaul Magid?offers an essential contribution to this intergenerational process, inviting us to examine our current moment making use of religious and political resources from the Jewish tradition. Shaul will appear in conversation with Oren Kroll-Zeldin, Ph.D., assistant director of the Swig Program in Jewish Studies and Social Justice at USF and author of the new book?Unsettled: American Jews and the Movement for Justice in Palestine. "I had always been interested in the generational shifts in American Jewish connections to and support for the State of Israel and for Zionism, and I had personal experiences interacting with the groups that I focused on. I knew that this was a project that was politically important, that was personally meaningful, and that academically was worthy of?inquiry." Read more in the recent J.
