Any other designers/creators feeling totally lost with the new Instagram vertical grid? After they rolled out the change last week, I saw lots of conflicting advice so I just took matters into my own hands and figured out exactly how we need to pivot to avoid weird post cropping. Here’s the info???? - The new grid preview ratio is 3:4 BUT Instagram does not allow you to upload 3:4 images (??), so all non-Reel posts should be 4:5 to minimize cropping - If you really want to post a square or horizontal image, keep important details in the center, knowing that the edges will be substantially cropped - Reels covers are still 9:16 in the Reels tab and will be cropped to 3:4 in the grid.
