Happy Social Work Month!! ?? I am so proud to be a social worker and to have some amazing social workers in my circles of colleagues and friends. Social work can look different depending on the setting and population, but there are a few things that remain consistent across the board. Social workers are specially trained (and usually naturally inclined) to: ??Make space for people to be seen, heard, valued, and understood. ??Recognize and validate the human experience while looking for hope and opportunity amongst challenge. ??Advocate for individuals and groups within systems that often are not designed to best support the people they serve. ??Speak out against discrimination and injustice and be an ally to all. Social work has allowed me a window into the human experience that I am truly grateful for, and these are the values that inspire Sweet Home Photography every day from behind the lens.
