We provide grants to local youth development programs and cancer patients in need.
关于我们
Sweet Geeks Foundation is deeply committed to nurturing opportunities, fostering empathy, and enhancing overall well-being within the underserved communities of Southern California. Our two key focuses are to provide crucial support for local youth development programs and to provide relief for cancer patients who are dealing with financial strains and other challenges. Join us as we embark upon this journey to uphold Kevin's legacy and strive to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the individuals and the communities he cared about. Together, we can make a difference and create a ripple effect. Background Sweet Geeks Foundation was established in 2021 by Isabella and Connor Jones in honor of their father, Kevin, who passed away from lung cancer in June of 2020. As someone who spent most of his life engineering both software and cars, Kevin was a proud, self-proclaimed “geek.” Beyond his passion for cars and computers, he loved to work with kids as a mentor at local youth-based organizations during his free time and also loved taking friends, family, and oftentimes strangers with him on wild adventures on a whim. He was notorious for being almost too sweet, going out of his way to brighten people’s days in any way that he could. When the idea for the foundation first came about, Isabella and Connor were throwing around name ideas while they were stuck in a drive-through line, trying to find something that captured their dad’s essence. Connor brilliantly came up with the name “Sweet Geeks,” a nod to Kevin’s kindness and unashamed geeky-ness, and that's how the name of our foundation was born. Creating Sweet Geeks was a way to turn his legacy into action and create a ripple effect of kindness in our community, just like he always somehow managed to do. Our organization aims to reflect the values he stood for and instilled within those around him: generosity, community, and giving back.

In response to the devastating LA County wildfires, we have provided small Disaster Relief grants to Families Forward Learning Center, The Change Reaction, and Black LA Relief and Recovery Fund, launched the California Black Freedom Fund and the California Community Foundation Historically Black communities, particularly in Altadena and Pasadena, have been hit especially hard by this disaster. These funds provide direct support to individuals and organizations on the ground who are working to meet the needs of Black and the most vulnerable communities displaced by wildfires.

We were honored to sponsor and volunteer at the 2nd Annual Orange Grove Toy Run on Saturday, organized by Kevin’s friends, @fdr_foundation and @lifestyle.cycles! We had a fantastic time setting everything up, running the carnival games, and helping students pick out their toys from the toy store. It was such a fun day, and a great opportunity to celebrate the joy of giving!
