Meet Robyn!
Where do you work and what is your title & responsibilities?
R&D Project Manager OmniOn Power. I manage complex engineering projects, focusing on efficiency and innovation through automated systems.
Where did you get your engineering degree?
Vanderbilt University, Mechanical Engineering 2013
Why did you join ECP (or SWE)?
I joined SWE because of my passion for fostering a strong community among women in engineering and my commitment to professional growth. SWE provides an invaluable platform to not only contribute to the advancement of women in engineering but also to gain insights, develop leadership skills, and participate in initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in STEM fields.
What advice would you give a young professional or a member of ECP?
One piece of advice I'd offer to YP is to embrace continuous learning and adaptability. The pace of change in technology and business can be rapid, and staying curious and open to learning new skills is crucial for long-term success. Early in your career, it's easy to feel like you need to have all the answers, but it's okay to ask questions, seek mentorship, and acknowledge that you're still in a learning phase.
Another important lesson is to build a strong network of colleagues and mentors. The relationships you form early on can provide valuable guidance, support, and opportunities throughout your career. Networking is not just about advancing your career; it's about learning from others, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a community.
Finally, don't be afraid to take calculated risks and step out of your comfort zone. Whether it's taking on a challenging project or exploring a new role, pushing your boundaries can lead to significant personal and professional growth.
What are you passionate about?
I'm passionate about solving complex problems and driving innovation, especially in the areas of technology and engineering. Whether it's leading a project that involves cutting-edge technology or working on initiatives that improve processes and efficiency, I find great satisfaction in overcoming challenges and delivering impactful results.
I'm also deeply passionate about mentoring and supporting others in their career growth. I believe in the power of knowledge-sharing and collaboration, and I enjoy helping others develop their skills and reach their full potential.
Lastly, I'm passionate about continuous learning and personal development. Staying curious and up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices is something I prioritize to keep growing both professionally and personally.
One fun fact about yourself!
