Exactly one year ago today, we launched bonnee | the clothing swap app, with a bold mission: to reimagine fashion by helping people swap before they shop, extend the lifecycle of clothing, and reduce waste. As a self-funded business founded by three women passionate about sustainability, this journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Along the way, we’ve learned: The power of community: our users are the heart of bonnee, proving that fashion can be circular and meaningful. The importance of resilience: launching and scaling a startup isn’t easy, but every challenge taught us how to adapt, improve, and stay true to our mission. That change is possible: small steps, like swapping a single item of clothing, can have a massive impact on the environment. It was an inspiring experience to share the stage with fellow environmental warriors Yadira Diaz and Taryn Hipwell. Their insights and dedication to creating a greener, more ethical fashion industry left us motivated and hopeful for what lies ahead. The wonderful moderator, Jacqueline Aramboles, MSM, led such a thoughtful and engaging conversation. Her questions sparked meaningful dialogue and inspired action among everyone in attendance. Last night, two of our co-founders Vanessa Sanchez and Maritza Sanchez Schubert had the incredible opportunity to participate in a panel discussion at St. Thomas University as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. The event, EmpowerHER: Celebrating Minority Women Entrepreneurs, was a dynamic and enriching experience for both our team and the inspiring students in attendance. We are deeply grateful to Frima Enghelberg for inviting us to join the panel and for being an excellent moderator who posed such thoughtful and thought-provoking questions. Thank you also to Martu E. Freeman-Parker for sharing her valuable insights and adding depth to the conversation. A special thank you to Anya Freeman, Founder and CEO of Kind Designs, for her inspiring opening presentation. Her company’s timely and impactful vision and mission set the tone for a truly meaningful evening. We left the event feeling inspired by the energy, curiosity, and determination of the next generation of entrepreneurs.
