We have been working to expand coverage for Medical Nutrition Therapy for 3 congressional terms! Literally, we need an act of Congress... Currently Medicare only covers nutrition services for patients who have Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease. We KNOW nutrition services can improve outcomes for so many other Chronic Diseases - not to mention preventing those diseases. Sharing this from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, will your business support the MNT Expansion Act? Sign on Today to Support the MNT Act! The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is seeking organizations at the local, state and national level to sign on to letters to?House?and?Senate?committee leaders in support of the Medical Nutrition Therapy Act of 2023 (H.R. 6407/S.3297). The MNT Act would increase access beyond diabetes and renal disease and would make it easier for providers to refer for services. Currently,?over 55 organizations?support the legislation. “I hold onto and use the [Swap] gift cards in the last 2 weeks of the month, when I completely run out of food options...after running out of money for the month“ I was overcome with emotion after reading this note from one of Swap Health's patients. How is it possible that we, as a country, are putting working-class people in a position where they literally can't afford to feed themselves, let alone afford healthy food? This patient doesn't fit the profile of someone that you would picture when talking about being unable to afford groceries, and yet they would literally not be able to buy food at the end of the each month without Swap. Listen, it's great that Swap exists (I know, I might be biased). Being a part of an incredibly talented, hardworking team that is helping people get healthier by democratizing access to healthy food is the most rewarding thing I've done in my entire career. But shouldn't we be doing better as a country? Shouldn't we not need Swap to exist? #foodinsecurity #foodismedicine

"Life changing...one food at a time" - Jane R, Swap Health member since Sep '23. Jane has lost 30 lbs (!), met with her dietitian 20 times, and earned $102.97 in cash back on healthy groceries since joining. Small, incremental behavior changes lead to big results.?
It's incredibly exciting to see our first patient reach the 1 year mark since enrolling in Swap! Here's what 1 year of engagement looks like for our first Swap-iversary member: - Joined on April 24, 2023? - Has seen their Swap dietitian at least once, every month, for 1 year - Earns $4.90 in cash back on healthy grocery purchases per trip, on average - Sustained reduction in triglycerides (from 195 to 99), lowering their risk of developing heart disease and Type 2 Diabetes - Sustained reduction in weight (from 238 to 230), lowering their risk of developing morbid obesity - Sustained reduction in A1C (from 5.9% to 5.8%), lowering their risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes Long-term, real world retention is the key to driving sustainable dietary changes and seeing patients reach this milestone proves that treating patients like consumers (instead of "yeah the experience stinks but it's healthcare so deal with it") is the key to sustainable behavior change and better outcomes. This Swap-iversary member joined Swap because even though they hadn't been diagnosed with a chronic condition, they wanted to make sure that they weren't on their way to developing one. Mission accomplished. swaphealth.com
