Rooting for Resilience: Urgent Action on Climate, Public Health and AMR. The Rooting for Resilience (RfR) event on 7th March 2025 at the Global Institute of Public Health in Thiruvananthapuram brought together experts to address the links between climate change, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and public health. Delivering the opening remarks, Dr. Kesavan Rajasekharan Nayar, Professor and Principal, GIPH, underscored the urgent need for evidence-based approaches to climate-health challenges. Climate Change & Health – Chitra Grace highlighted rising health risks from water scarcity, heat waves, and disease outbreaks. AMR & Climate Change – Dr. Shaheer Aboobacker linked rising temperatures to antibiotic resistance, especially in flood-prone Kerala. Youth & Climate Action – ??Sanju Soman stressed the need for youth-led climate adaptation in healthcare. Participants engaged in discussions focused on climate-vulnerable populations, health threats, and strengthening healthcare infrastructure. Deepa Ananthapadmanabhan addressed the gathering, contributing valuable insights on the climate resilience. As Kerala faces growing climate-health challenges, scientific research, policy action, and community solutions are key to resilience.
