Tetiana is #expert on #biomass and #biofuels and part of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine. She comments that: ?Bio-based energy products play an increasingly important role in present-day life. Especially this applies to biofuels as transport is the sector which is difficult to decarbonise. The use of biofuels such as bioethanol and biodiesel can reduce GHG emissions in the sector and mitigate air pollution from vehicles. However, to be more appealing to consumers and businesses, biofuels should be sustainable, which can be proved by their #certification. ?? ?? Shaping the Future of Sustainability Certification in the EU Bioeconomy ?? Last month, the BIOBASEDCERT Cluster (SUSTCERT4BIOBASED, HARMONITOR Project and STAR4BBS) held two key events in Brussels: ? 3rd meeting of the Roundtable of certification schemes relevant to biobased supply chains:?The schemes were joined by several policymakers to discuss the role of voluntary certification in driving the green transition. Keynotes from Adrian Leip (DG RTD) and Maira Devisscher (ISEAL). ? Presentation of the BIOBASEDCERT Monitoring Tool:?In the afternoon, the group of policymakers were introduced to a new tool designed by the BIOBASEDCERT Cluster to benchmark voluntary schemes, foster circularity, and support EU sustainability goals.
