Over the past few days in Dublin, I’ve had the privilege of engaging with government officials, regulatory bodies, and financial sector leaders on Ireland’s growing role in sustainable finance and the road ahead. A key focus of these discussions was the establishment of the UNDP Office for Sustainable Finance, with strong support from the Irish Government. This office will serve as a hub for collaboration, innovation, and scaling investment solutions that align finance with sustainability goals. Ireland is uniquely positioned to drive climate finance, transition finance, and impact investing—leveraging its strong financial ecosystem and leadership in international policy forums. The insights shared by policymakers, financial regulators, and private sector leaders reinforced a shared ambition to mobilize capital for a more sustainable and inclusive global economy. From the Department of Finance and the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications to the Central Bank of Ireland, National Treasury Management Agency, Irish Aid, and beyond, one message was clear: sustainable finance and climate action are a priority, and Ireland is stepping up. As we move ahead, I look forward to deepening UNDP’s partnerships in Ireland and globally to unlock the full potential of finance as a force for sustainable development. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with global leaders from business, finance, civil society and the labour movement to shape the future of social reporting standards, ensuring that they are both meaningful and practical.?? Technical Working Groups will lead on the creation of elements of TISFD’s disclosure framework and guidance. Regional Councils will provide critical input to ensure TISFD’s work reflects the often localised nature of social impacts. We are looking for individuals who are: ?? At events like the GSG Impact European DFIs - EDFI Power of Partnerships forum, UNDP is joining together with partners to forge novel, impactful solutions to finance developing countries #SDGs, #climate and #biodiversity targets without contributing to unsustainable #debt.

Scaling Sustainable Finance for Southeast Asia’s Future: Southeast Asia stands at a critical juncture in its sustainable development journey, writes Devahuti Choudhury, Senior Regional Specialist for Asia-Pacific at UNDP's Private Finance for the SDGs, in a new blog. While challenges such as climate change, health care gaps, and education disparities persist, the region also presents significant opportunities for private investment to drive impact. To accelerate progress, UNDP, in partnership with the Centre for Impact Investing and Practices (CIIP), launched the SDG Venture Scaler in 2024. This initiative mobilizes private finance to scale high-growth ventures advancing the #SDGs in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Key investment opportunities highlighted by participants from recent forums include: ? Indonesia: Investment potential in health care and education, with a focus on preventative care infrastructure, health-tech adoption, and digital transformation. Initiatives like Kampus Merdeka, which engaged over one million participants in 2023–2024, provide valuable insights into aligning education with global competencies and industry needs. ? Philippines: Strong demand for investments in agriculture, water security, and waste management, particularly through climate-adaptive technologies. Blue financing is expanding access to sustainable water solutions in underserved areas. ? Vietnam: Opportunities in renewable energy, waste management, and education, with an emphasis on public-private partnerships and regulatory clarity. EdTech innovations are driving digital learning and workforce up-skilling. UNDP's SDG Venture Scaler aims to support 30 growth-stage enterprises in 2025 with tailored advisory services, investment facilitation, and impact measurement.
