Team SUN and student volunteers from UCLA are joining LA Works for CLEAN DAY LA this Saturday, February 22, 2025. Volunteers will take direct action toward environmental sustainability and disaster prevention, helping make LA communities safer. We began 2025 reflectively, taking time to assess and reexamine directions, particularly in light of nonprofit funding challenges and direct prohibitions to uttering words like ‘climate’ and ‘environmental justice.’ But communities in need cannot be ignored and LA needs our help! Wildfires may be out of the headlines, but thousands in Los Angeles are still recovering. Building on our years-long commitment to community resilience and mutual aid, Sustainable United Neighborhoods team members are on the ground in LA, organizing volunteer opportunities with LA-based organizations to support fire-affected communities through brush cleanups, essential aid distribution, unhoused support, and kitchen volunteering. ??
