And that's a wrap on #SPCEngage2024! Thank you to our incredible collaborators at Packaging Europe, sponsors, speakers, and the #SPC community for coming together and advancing #harmonized sustainable packaging solutions!
Together, we learned about:
?? Harmonized design: From packaging to future-proofed environments, we learned about design that prioritizes behavior change and better environmental outcomes. Plus, we saw how standardized packaging can help reduce recyclability challenges.
?? Goal setting: Experts from Amazon to Packaging Europe shared best practices on setting sustainability goals for the 5-10 years ahead. What should we look out for? Increased recyclability, PCR content, compostable materials, and reusable or refillable packaging.
??? Regulations: EPR might be novel in the U.S., but across Europe, countries have been moving EPR programs forward since the 1990s. And because no EPR program is made equal, we learned best practices for harmonizing our approach to these regulations to meet the patchwork of policies at home and abroad.
??Innovations: The best sustainable packaging solutions are #scalable. We heard about the innovations behind these solutions, like packaging and source reduction initiatives, exciting accelerator programs, and reusable packaging plans.
?? Key collaborations: We heard from speakers representing initiatives like Fashion for Good and CEFLEX - A Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging on how we can drive the collaboration needed to address environmental, recycling, and behavior change challenges.
We also considered the Anne Frank quote, “How wonderful it is that no one has to wait even a minute to start gradually changing the world.”
Now, the question is: How will you start changing the world? Get involved (or more involved!) with SPC today! https://lnkd.in/egDqeKXS
