After almost 15 years, the SEA closed in 2023. There is a small team in the USA that are casually keeping the flame alive, but for now the SEA website is not operational and there's no activity from the organisation. It's been de-registered as an Incorporated Association where it was headquartered in Australia. Thanks to all the people that have been involved over all the years. We started when there were only a handful of people specialising in event sustainability, to have somewhere for us to gather and exchange. As part of my legacy as founder and chairperson of the SEA, I created a Sustainable Events Timeline. You can find this on my website https://greeneventbook.com. It's super handy as it has all the links to all the event sustainability programmes, certifications, organisations, campaigns etc. So you might find something over there that you can get involved with! We did our job. Look how this has now grown into a discipline of it's own! Thanks all, and keep those events sustainable! Meegan

Carbon offsets should the LAST element of any carbon mitigation plan, if included at all. "In order for an offset to be legitimate, Dr. Sterman said a project’s results must be?verifiable, immediate and durable. They must also be “additional,” meaning they wouldn’t have happened without funding from the offset. Very few projects, he said, meet all of these criteria." https://lnkd.in/gQnSSMuT
