关于我们
In 1980, Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. Two years later, that promise became the Susan G. Komen? organization and the beginning of a global movement. For over 40 years, we've led the way funding groundbreaking research, community health initiatives and advocacy programs in local communities across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries. And with your help, we’ll continue pushing for progress to end breast cancer every day, until it’s a thing of the past. The journey is going to be longer than I expected," said Laurel, a breast cancer survivor. Read more of her experience in our blog, "What to Expect with a Mastectomy:" https://bit.ly/4ixTSeu

Nicole was a busy orthodontist and a 33-year-old mom to 2 little boys when she noticed a change in her left breast. She had just stopped breastfeeding her baby and thought that could be reason for the unusual “rubbery consistency” of her breast. But testing revealed she had stage 3 breast cancer. Nicole's aggressive treatment plan was difficult. "I remember thinking I don’t ever want to go through this again. I went with this aggressive treatment plan knowing that if it ever did come back, I will know I did everything I could,” she said. Read more of her story in our blog. https://bit.ly/4iFkM42

Black women experience higher rates of death from breast cancer due a combination of factors including barriers to early diagnosis, lack of access to high-quality care, the aggressive nature of certain breast cancers diagnosed more often in Black women, genetics, discrimination and systematic racism. Komen’s response: Stand for H.E.R. – A Health Equity Revolution, a bold program that breaks down barriers to decrease poor breast cancer outcomes for Black people.
