What questions should you be asking your Surgical Oncologist? ?? Spotlight on Dr. Lee Pederson ?? In observation of National Cancer Prevention Month, we are proud to spotlight Dr. Lee Pederson, one of our esteemed surgeons. Dr. Pederson is a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist with specialized training in minimally invasive approaches to oncologic surgery. Dr. Pederson is here to share some valuable insights on the best questions to ask a surgeon before tumor removal: Q: Do I have to stay in the hospital? A: If it’s an intra-abdominal tumor like pancreas, liver, or colon—yes. Q: Is it outpatient surgery? A: Some cancer types like melanoma or breast cancer can have outpatient surgery. Q: Does surgery require general anesthesia? A: Most times, yes. Q: Will I need chemotherapy? A: It depends on what the pathology shows. If we can determine if a breast or colon cancer has spread to lymph nodes, usually yes. For a thin melanoma with adequate margins, no. Stay informed and proactive about your health. Thank you, Dr. Pederson, for your dedication and expertise! ?? #NationalCancerPreventionMonth #CancerAwareness #HealthTips #DrLeePederson #SurgicalSpecialists

Chloe is our February Employee Spotlight- check it out! Chloe at the front desk at the Huntersville location and has been with SSC for just over 3 months. A typical day for her starts at 6:00 AM, when she wakes up, gets ready, prepares her lunch, and heads to work. Upon arriving, she enjoys her breakfast, logs into the computer, clocks in, and begins her day. Chloe helps patients by greeting them with a smile ??as soon as they walk through the door, ensuring they have a positive experience during their visit. She contributes to her team by being punctual, completing tasks in a timely manner, and keeping her workspace organized and clean. What Chloe enjoys most about her job is the opportunity to work with people and make patients smile. An interesting fact about Chloe is her love for animals. She has a dog, a horse??, and 10 fish, and she used to train horses as a fun side job. A word from her manager, Chloe has been with the company since November of 2024. She came to us with not much experience, but with a willingness and eagerness to learn. Chloe has taken on the task of learning all things SSC.....and is excelling. She has been quick to pick up the computer and our systems, does a great job collecting and tackling the ever-growing list of insurances (which is a challenge!). Chloe has proven to be dedicated and reliable. I am thrilled Chloe is with us! We're thrilled to have you, Chloe!
