How does a civilian doc even start to talk about frontline care to those who delivery that every day? It was an honor to get to share Team SurgiBox's work on operationalizing care in dynamic environments with the joint military medical leadership of Area 1 (US and South Korean forces nearest the DMZ) - particularly as part of the final Grand Rounds hosted by Medical Director Captain Asad Moten, who had worked so diligently throughout his tenure to advance Force Health and Readiness. I learned a lot too from the very engaged audience, not least about the wide-ranging role of medical preparedness throughout the region.

How do we cultivate leadership appetite for and success at creating innovative products across fields? MIT Sloan Prof Steven Eppinger, MIT MechE Prof Kamala Grasso, and RISD/MIT Design Prof Heewon Lee invited me to give a talk on my "founder journey" for SurgiBox to their MIT course 15.783 "Product Design and Development" full of MBAs, engineering, and design grad students. I also joined a luncheon chat and student project presentations. I loved getting to see just a bit of how they collectively tap into the innate human sense of curiosity & desire to make something, and unite that urge with experience & skills for success.
