At Support for Peace Education and Development Programme (SPEDP), we are committed to empowering displaced communities and fostering resilience in South Sudan. Our recent work at the Kajo-Keji Holding Site exemplifies our dedication to providing life-saving support and long-term solutions for returnees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). The Kajo-Keji Holding Site Project focuses on: ? Emergency Assistance – Providing essential relief, including shelter, food security, and clean water. ? Livelihood Support – Equipping returnees with skills, tools, and resources to rebuild their lives sustainably. ? Community Resilience – Strengthening local structures to ensure long-term stability and self-reliance. ? Protection & Education – Ensuring that vulnerable groups, including women and children, receive the necessary support to thrive. As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare systems, SPEDP, in partnership with WHO, officially handed over a newly constructed isolation center in Kajo-Keji yesterday. This critical facility will enhance disease prevention and response efforts, ensuring better healthcare services for the community. As the situation in South Sudan continues to evolve, partnerships are key in ensuring that displaced communities receive the support they need. We invite humanitarian organizations, government agencies and development partners to collaborate with us in strengthening durable solutions for affected populations. ?? #COP29: A Crucial Moment for Building Resilience in Fragile Communities COP29 is on and the world’s attention is once again on climate action and the policies that will shape our planet’s future. For impact-based organizations like Support for Peace and Education Development Programme (SPEDP), this moment is more than just another summit—it’s a vital opportunity to spotlight the needs of vulnerable communities across South Sudan, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In regions where communities face compounded challenges—from climate-induced shocks to economic hardships and conflict—our work aims to support sustainable livelihoods that foster resilience. COP29 can catalyze new commitments and partnerships, helping us strengthen our efforts to: Empower Local Solutions: By integrating climate adaptation and resilient agriculture practices, we are enabling communities to better withstand environmental changes and secure food sources. Enhance Water Security: With unpredictable rainfall and prolonged droughts, securing clean water resources is essential. We are working to provide reliable water systems that are sustainable and climate-smart. Build Economic Resilience: Through vocational training and entrepreneurial support, SPEDP is equipping people with skills to thrive in changing economic landscapes. COP29 represents a unique moment for global leaders, donors and development partners to recognize and support initiatives tailored to the needs of those most affected by climate change. Together, we can drive forward policies and resources that bolster resilience in fragile regions, empowering communities to adapt and thrive. Let’s advocate for meaningful action and partnerships at COP29. The time to act is now. #COP29 #ClimateAction #ResilienceBuilding #SPEDP #SustainableLivelihoods
