Supply Change Capital believes in a future of food that is sustainability mindful, supply chain efficient, better for you, and culture rich. We invest at the intersection of food, culture, and technology to catalyze early stage sustainable businesses that modernize the food system. The firm is led by two GPs who combine food domain expertise with tech and investing experience. Noramay Cadena is an aerospace engineer turned investor. She previously launched an early stage fund that invested in over 20 manufacturing and supply chain companies. Shayna Harris brings an insider's eye to the industry, from architecting the 21st-century chocolate supply chain at Mars to building the groundbreaking food tech company Farmer’s Fridge. She advises Fortune 100 companies and startups on navigating the fast-changing food terrain, and writes for Forbes. The duo have 40 investments between them and 2 investments in the Supply Change portfolio. The firm is based in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Big news! Shayna Harris and Noramay Cadena have been named honorees for Inc. Magazine's #FemaleFounders500, recognizing the most tenacious role models in entrepreneurship. They join an impressive cohort of visionary women transforming industries across the country! Also making the list this year is Supply Change Capital portfolio founder Michelle Ruiz, whose pioneering work at Hyfé Foods is revolutionizing sustainable food systems. Visit the link in bio to explore the full list. These trailblazing entrepreneurs exemplify resilience, innovation, and leadership despite the persistent funding gap faced by women founders. According to Inc., women-founded startups received just 2% of venture capital funding last year, making these achievements even more significant. Congratulations to all the honorees whose determination is paving the way for the next generation of female founders! Read more about these inspiring women (link in comments).

ICYMI ?? AQUA Cultured Foods, a Chicago-based startup, specializes in fish-free seafood. Co-founder Brittany Chibe explains that, unlike other alternative seafood companies, their products are made from cellulose and grown in vats, similar to the process of brewing beer. Located in Chicago's West Town neighborhood, Aqua Cultured Foods focuses on creating seafood without fish, emphasizing sustainability. "We don't want to continue overfishing and depleting our oceans' food sources. We aim to be part of the solution," Chibe said. The company’s production process resembles beer or wine brewing. We're so excited to welcome Sarah Kakadellis as our newest Fellow, joining us from University of California, Davis. Food and sustainability are two of Sarah's passions. As a problem-oriented postdoctoral researcher, Sarah's focus is on identifying, quantifying, and mapping the impact of food loss and waste streams. There is hardly any food Sarah won't try, but one of her favorites would be spanakorizo (rice, spinach and lemon dish) - simple, healthy, and the taste of her childhood!
