    Filling a void. Ranch update. Some of you have asked so thought I'd give you an update. For those of you that recently connected with me we also have a ranch where the goal is to provide grass-fed beef and organic vegetables to the the less fortunate in our county. Nothing overly exciting going on at the moment. We've been getting the pastures ready as they are in bad shape. The goal is to do grass-fed cattle so it helps if there's plenty of grass?? I've also came to realize that my primary entrance floods heavily during rain so the next project is to begin raising it up and having gravel brought in. I'll most likely start that Thanksgiving week. Since it will be a while before our nonprofit can begin producing anything for those in need we have partnered with a food pantry in Paris Texas to support the community. 10% of everything we make in our headhunting business goes to the food bank to support the community as Lamar County is one of the poorest counties in the state of Texas with a tremendous need. Meanwhile, I want to thank everyone that's trusted in me to recruit for them or to help them with a resume. We appreciate all our clients and candidates!

    People suck!?? Okay, hear me out first. We all know that my first statement CAN be true. On the other side, we all know that's not everyone. There are some good people out there and some that are not so fun to talk with. Case in point. ?? A candidate that I recruited 3 years ago called me last night at 7:30 just to chat. Me and this guy became friends through the process and we chat a couple of times a month. Heck, he met me and one of my daughters face to face when we were in Florida several months back. I know this dude's life story and vice versa. That's what I truly love about being a headhunter! It's the relationships you can build along the way! Y'all have a good weekend!

    Resume begging to be put out of its misery? The resume review and resume edit service is a very small portion of my overall business but is one I get the greatest joy from. People are able to take my suggestions or edits and find new positions. I can't put everyone in a new job but this is another way I can try to help!     Hiring HR people is like pulling teeth! This may be an unpopular post but just sharing my experience. I have recruited a few HR people for clients in the past. I have two active HR searches now. I had one last year. Here's what seems to be common.... 1 candidate had an interview scheduled on Monday morning and called me Sunday night to withdraw and then still remain unemployed for another year. Disappearing in the middle of the process. Wanting to ask a thousand questions via LinkedIn messaging or email instead of hopping on a short call to go through all the ins and outs. Maybe these are the same ones that ghost candidates in the middle of the process so they are just used to ghosting people? Maybe it's just a luck of the draw and the ones I happen to be reaching out to? On the other side of the coin, I have ran across a few fantastic HR candidates that are on the other end and super responsive/awesome people! Those are the ones that will wind up getting my hiring managers attention. Speaking of open HR positions, I have a leadership role in Atlanta and another one in Maryland if anyone is interested. ShoutOut DFW is a publication in the area that highlights small businesses, entrepreneurs and artist in the area. We were fortunate enough to be interviewed and featured in their latest print.
