This past Tuesday, all SCCU branches closed their doors for Dare to Care Day, so our dedicated team members could open their hearts to the community. Team members took the day to volunteer at local community places and parks, embodying our commitment to giving back. This special day was filled with teamwork, service, and a shared goal of making a positive impact where we live and work.

A Speed Dating Event put on by a Credit Union?! Makes you turn your heads, doesn't it! Is this an odd thing for a financial to do? Sure. But in our minds, it just fit! Finances can be a really tricky thing to talk about in a relationship, so we wanted to put on an event that encourages people to be open to talking about money early on! When our event coordinator Abigail Brandt pitched this idea, her team was a little hesitant too, but she has now successfully put on 2 speed dating events for SCCU, the first in Eau Claire and the second, just yesterday in Duluth. We have so much fun planning and attending these event that you should all keep an eye out for another Speed dating event coming this fall in Eau Claire!

We are excited to announce Jay Stoneburner as our Team Member of the Month! Jay’s exceptional skills, quick delivery, and dedication to accuracy have made him invaluable to our team. This past month we celebrated Nikki from our Hayward Branch exemplifies dedication and excellence. Her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering support for both her team and our members make her truly exceptional. With outstanding achievements and a positive attitude, Nikki’s hard work and commitment to our community set her apart. We’re incredibly proud to have Nikki on our team!

Rowan, one of our 2024 SCCU Scholarship recipients, gave us in insight about how her unique early childhood experiences shaped her into the person she is today. Initially believing her differences would hold her back, Rowan discovered they were the key to her success. Her story captured the theme “Different is Better.” Congratulations Rowan!

Kole, 2024 SCCU Scholarship recipient, documented his journey of building a log bunkhouse from Red Pine trees. Over three years and 300 hours of work, Kole turned this project into an escape, a way to spend his free time away. Kendall, our 2024 SCCU Scholarship recipient, submitted a heartfelt essay that tellers her personal story of college and how her experiences have taught her that different is indeed better. Kayla, one of our 2024 SCCU Scholarship recipients, submitted an amazing collection of her latest art pieces, including pencil sketches and an oil painting, showcasing her love for fishing, canoeing, and stargazing. Growing up in a family full of boys, Kayla had to prove herself in the fishing and outdoors scene, and her artistic ability allows her to express and celebrate her differences. Her work perfectly showcases the theme “Different is Better.” Congratulations Kayla!
