I gave a sneak peak of our new M80 motors to a few individuals at R-CON this month but wanted to give my connections a glimpse ahead of our formal press release (better to ask for forgiveness than permission right?) SuperDroid Robots now makes the only #USA #designed, #engineered AND #manufactured #robot #motor (and we can make them to meet scale). Some quick stats: - IP69 - Built-in encoders - Peppy and responsive - Can be daisy-chained for added torque - Cybersecure Not only are ALL our robots going to use the M80's, we're making them available for our customers to make their robots with them. As a sales professional, I get very excited about being able to offer a superior and competitive product. As an American, I couldn't be more proud to represent an essential and quality product made in the USA. Keep an eye on us, it's not just our motors that are going places. #madeintheusa #robotdesign #americanmade #toughamericanrobots

You're a reality capture manager at a construction company. Which day would you rather have? Company 1: You arrive to work at 7:30am. Full day planned so you grab your gear. Fortunately you always have it ready to go. First stop is 221 South 32nd St - a to-the-studs renovation of a 100 year old building. If you start scanning by 8:30am you could have it done in a couple hours. That is, if that annoying project manager isn't there who always wants to shoot the breeze. You finish up by noon and slam a sandwich down and head over to the new stadium build. This one will take a while, but you're hoping to have it done in time to make it back to the office to upload all your data and get it processing for overnight. You wanted to finish up creating a report comparing the BIM to last weeks scans but only just now find out the scans were done wrong. Crap. You make a note to do them again tomorrow, which sucks cause it's on the other side of town. Another hour wasted in a car. You try to ignore the emails stacking up. Maybe you can crank those out after the kids have been put to bed. Company 2: You arrive to work at 7:30am and log into your computer. Your data is already uploaded, processed, and waiting thanks to the SuperDroid Robots #Groundhog that lives on each site and scans them autonomously each day. A report has already been generated and you give it a quick scan before sending it out to each stakeholder. Things have been running much smoother now that everybody can be on the same page and respond faster. The safety manager recently realized he can make good use of the scans too since that they're so much more available, so you make sure to copy him. You're almost caught up on emails by noon when you remember you wanted to take an extra look on how that brickwork is coming on the north side, so you log into your Groundhog and drive it over, snapping a quick 360 to share for this afternoons progress meeting. That drive would have taken and hour and a half both ways just for that shot. Definitely don't miss the old days. #realitycapture #progressmonitoring #autonomousrobot #constructiontech

The most ???????????????? thing I learned at Day 2 of #RCON2024: #AEC companies utilizing #realitycapture scans have to use ???? ???? ???????? ???????????????? ?????????? to get the job done today, which is crazy! For use cases that are about collaboration and visualization vs precision, you can drastically simplify your workflow by utilizing tools like Unreal Engine or Unity. Game engines make it easy to ingest large 3D files ranging from Revit to point clouds, and manipulate them collaboratively. This was one of the topics discussed at our panel yesterday "The Future Ecosystem: Where Will It Be 20 Years From Now?". I'm certain that in the future, game engines will be able to tackle precision tasks as well, thus transforming and simplifying AEC workflows to take place in 1 or 2 tools at most. That would not only save all industry stakeholders a tremendous amount of time, but improve everything from capital expenditure to ease of payroll. I also really enjoyed listening to Steven Uecke (SE, PE, P.Eng) talking about future construction sites having at least as many robots as humans. Robots today are mostly about capturing data, which wich enable effortless continuous reality capture. In the future robots will start performing tasks related to physical labor today. On ?????? ?? I'm looking forward to learning more about incorporating NeRF and Gaussian Splats into 3D workflows, as new enabling technologies for #realitycapture.

Today, I'm throwing back to an article that Andy Verone and I co-authored - Perception vs. Reality: Clarifying the Myth of Construction’s Digital Divide (from Contruent's True Talks series). Andy and I had some really interesting and insightful discussions when drafting this blog post, tackling head-on the misconception that 'construction hates tech.' The key headline - perception isn't always reality. If you're tired of hearing about construction lagging in tech adoption, and are interested in exploring why construction firms are so intentional and selective with the tech they use, take a read! https://lnkd.in/gw7jfuxa #engineering #construction #tech #contech #aec #epc #BIM #PickyAboutPixels #NotSlowJustSelective

Exciting times this week at the Reality Capture Network conference in Boise, Idaho! Not only did I get to connect with incredible colleagues and dive into the latest trends in reality capture and BIM, but my son and daughter also got to experience a glimpse of this dynamic industry. The best part? The overwhelming support and excitement from this amazing community, eager to welcome the next generation into the workforce. It’s inspiring to be part of such a forward-thinking and inclusive industry! Thank you Matthew Byrd for putting on an incredible event as always, and it was great to see all the latest and greatest right here in our hometown of Boise, Idaho. Thank you to John Niles for being my son's first "network" connection! He asked me this morning what "networking" was and you were awesome at showing him how it is done! Thank you to SuperDroid Robots CEO Steven Uecke (SE, PE, P.Eng) for letting my son get his first live test demo in robotics! Thank you to Trevor O. for telling my son all about how Rogers-O'Brien Construction uses autonomous robots on the job site. Thank you to everyone else who shared stories and made this industry even more special to me. You guys are incredible. #realitycapture #community #learning #advancingfabrication #rcon2024
