We’re on a mission to unlock the heroic potential of youth & young adults everywhere. Indiana University Bloomington discovered that bringing SuperBetter's gameful framework to life in the #classroom fosters a safe & supportive culture where students can thrive. ? The City of Mobile, AL Public Safety Department is using the SuperBetter Mindset as a framework to #mentor at-risk youth & their families when referred by schools, police & courts. ? Students at a K12 school in a village in Sub-Saharan Africa significantly improved their grades, attendance, resilience, self-confidence & emotional regulation after participating in a SuperBetter #afterschool program co-developed with Phoenix Foundation. We also discuss SuperBetter's uniquely strong scientific foundation: ? The SuperBetter Mindset is evidence-based and integrates techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology and behavior change in an easy-to-learn mental framework that feels like playing life as a game. ? Five published clinical & randomized controlled trials show SuperBetter's benefits for significantly reducing anxiety & depression and improving resilience, self-efficacy & recovery. ? In the latest study, conducted by Harvard et al, college students with moderate or greater anxiety &/or depression who used SuperBetter for at least 10 weeks had a 42% remission rate at 6-months. The high prevalence of poor mental health across student populations is a major pain point for the education industry. It negatively impacts student success, retention, academic performance, graduation rates, attendance & classroom behaviors. To end the youth mental health crisis, we need to work upstream to proactively empower young people with resources, strengths & skills that reduce the prevalence of anxiety & depression. SuperBetter fills the gap for a proactive approach that is evidence-based, practical, accessible & globally-scalable. For nearly 20 years, schools have been teaching the Growth Mindset. Now, educators can teach the SuperBetter Mindset to empower their students in a world where the human mind is under attack.     Whether you know there are things you need to do in your job search and you're just "not feeling it" or you're feeling depleted in general and can't seem to muster the energy to "do the thing" you need to do, try experimenting with Type One and Type Two Actions. Type One Actions are anything that boosts your energy level and mood...i.e. what Jane MacGonigal in SuperBetter calls Power-Ups. Doing these not only brings more joy into the moment and your life, they also give you the fuel that recharges your batteries and...that you can use to do the tasks you need to do. Type Two Actions are anything that brings you a bit closer to your goal or a bit farther along your path. These are related to what Mark Manson calls Minimal Viable Actions or BJ Fogg, PhD describes as Tiny Habits.     This Psychology Today article makes the case for addressing the youth mental health crisis with strategies that include, and go beyond improving access to #healthcare services. Improving access to care is extremely important, however treatment alone will never be sufficient to end the crisis. The role of proactive youth empowerment will soon become even more critical as rapid growth in AI technologies accelerate pressures on mental health. It's easy to think of the mental health crisis as just a healthcare problem, but the #education industry has an equally large role to play... and more to lose as the prevalence of anxiety & depression across their student populations persists, or even grows. For the healthcare industry, the mental health crisis means greater demand for services that generate revenue. In contrast, for the education industry it means negative pressures on core metrics including student success, retention, academic performance, graduation rates, attendance and classroom behaviors. #Schools, colleges & universities can take a #proactive approach to promote student mental health by teaching #resilience, coping strategies, and?emotional intelligence. Our partnership with Indiana University shows that teaching students the SuperBetter Mindset is a practical & engaging way to empower resilience, mental health & skills for success while fostering a supportive culture of thriving in the classroom. The SuperBetter Mindset framework is uniquely suited to activate curriculums in subject areas where behavior change plays a role - such as student success, mental health literacy, life skills, financial wellbeing, digital citizenship and cyber resilience. The mindset is also a powerful framework for student mentoring. Educators have been teaching the Growth Mindset for nearly 20 years.     I genuinely feel my life has shifted.... ... and all due to a post ... that was reposted ... that caught my eye ... that wasn't what it seemed ... that has caused a shift in my thinking Therefore, it would be rude not to share. Here's my experience of chronic pain and fatigue: ?? Chronic pain and fatigue keeps you isolated ?? You feel that you'll never be well again ?? The future doesn't seem like it has a place for you ?? You want your life back but don't know how to do that Here's what my recovery has taught me: ? Your brain is so capable of change, learn how to use it and things can get better ? This will take time, but you can improve your situation ? The experience will change you, but that can be a change for the better ? Educate yourself, waiting lists are so long that waiting for others to save you can take years. ? Getting angry and deciding that it's time for things to change isn't a bad thing... anger can help! Don't stop making the small changes. Don't stop believing that things can get better. Don't stop thinking that life can be good again. Don't stop focusing on your recovery. Don't stop making yourself the priority in your recovery. This TED talk reminded me that simple changes done over time can give big rewards. I truly believe that the brain must lead for the body to follow, so please watch this TED talk and see if it talks to you and your recovery... don't let the title put you off, I promise there's good stuff here. https://lnkd.in/eTGzFXmK
