Reflecting on an Incredible Year at Super 8 Restaurants As 2024 draws to a close, we’re reflecting on what has been an extraordinary year of growth, collaboration, and achievement at Super 8 Restaurants. From new accolades to empowering our team and making a positive impact?in?our communities, it’s been a year of milestones that we’re incredibly proud of. Highlights from an Amazing Year: National Recognition: We’re thrilled to share that Smoking Goat retained its place in the National Restaurant Awards Top 100 for the second year running, Kiln was ranked #6 in the UK, and Mountain earned a Michelin star in just six months—what an achievement for the team! Incredible Culinary Collaborations: This year saw some truly memorable moments, from Smoking Goat’s Zao pop-up that blew guests away with an incredible menu to Kiln’s wine events featuring celebrated winemakers and Brat’s continued excellence in maintaining its Michelin star. Supporting Women in Hospitality: On International Women’s Day, our team raised ￡15,296 for Solace, a charity supporting women victims of violence, by curating wine lists from female producers and hosting special menus. We’re also incredibly proud of our female-led wine teams, who were recognized at the Star Wine List awards. Charity and Giving Back: Through our collective efforts, Super 8 raised ￡30,000 for Action Against Hunger this year, contributing to an important initiative to combat hunger and food insecurity across the globe. This is a cause close to our hearts, and we’re grateful to our staff and customers for their support. Sustainability & Sourcing: We’ve continued to strengthen our ties with local, regenerative farms like Gothelney, Flourish, and Namayasai. This year, we also launched an exciting pig project with Redwood Farms, bringing innovation to our sourcing practices. Our commitment to sustainable and ethical sourcing remains a cornerstone of everything we do, from the fields to the plate. Empowering Our Team: 2024 has been a year of growth for our people. We’ve had over 100 promotions across the business and are proud to announce that eight leaders have now been certified as professional coaches. This is part of our ongoing commitment to developing leadership and empowering our team to reach their full potential. We’ve also launched our Produce Champions role to further elevate our sourcing and quality control processes. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited for upcoming collaborations, our upcoming trips to Thailand?with the teams for continued learning and crafting of Regional cooking, and the continued journey of excellence across all five of our sites. Action Against Hunger x Super 8 At Super 8, we believe food is more than sustenance—it’s a connection, a lifeline, and a way to build community. That’s why we’ve been so proud to partner with Action Against Hunger over the past few months as part of their Love Food Give Food 2024 campaign. Through this collaboration, we’ve worked alongside our incredible guests to raise ￡30,000 by adding just ￡1 to each bill across all our restaurants. This simple act has allowed us to make a meaningful contribution to Action Against Hunger’s mission: to fight hunger and provide life-saving support to communities in need. By equipping managers with coaching skills, we foster a culture of support, collaboration, and continuous growth. For the month of March, in honour of international women's day SUPER 8 RESTAURANTS ran our annual Women in Wine project, highlighting fantastic female winemakers that we have the pleasure to work with. During this project we also showcased the talents of our team and Alexandra Brooks has written this wonderful piece, featuring some of our favourite winemakers. The artwork was designed, by Rose Henderson. Hospitality draws to it so many talented and creative people and its an honour to be able to share the work of our team.. Happy Reading.
