The “Impossible Dream” that became a reality ?? 48 years ago, in 1976, Bill Sample, a Philadelphia Police Officer, gathered fellow officers and staff at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children to bring sunshine into the lives of struggling children. Witnessing their hardships, Bill and his supporters took action, securing funding and resources to take Bobby, a young boy battling leukemia, and his family to Fernwood Resort in the Pocono Mountains. Bill’s goal was simple: to spread sunshine into the lives of as many children as possible. Despite skepticism, he pursued his impossible dream, which became a reality, spreading joy to countless children and families in need for many years. Thank you, Bill Sample, for creating the first wish-granting 501?(3) organization. We humbly honor Bobby, the first child to have a dream come true through Sunshine. Grateful to Bob Dotson and the Today Show for sharing Chrissy’s heartwarming story! ????
