Lots of commercial solar struggles to get financed. Why? Because local businesses, nonprofits, and thousands of unrated entities don’t fit into traditional financing models. But that’s all changing. Sunrock Distributed Generation and Sunstone Credit are rewriting the rules for commercial solar finance. By streamlining project financing and making PPAs/leases (Sunrock) and loans (Sunstone) work for small business owners, REITs, and other real estate companies, they’re unlocking the biggest untapped market in clean energy. Hear Claire Broido Johnson, Co-Founder and President of Sunrock and Joshua Goldberg, CEO of Sunstone break it all down: -?Why most commercial solar deals fail—and how to fix it - How Sunstone Credit built a financing model banks actually trust - Why permitting & local regulations are still the biggest hurdles - How solar EPCs can unlock more deals with the right financial tools If you’re an installer, developer, or solar entrepreneur, this episode is packed with insights! https://lnkd.in/eA-Mx2rc

"Over 12.3 GW and 37.1 GWh of energy storage was deployed in the U.S. in 2024, Wood Mackenzie and the American Clean Power Association (ACP) reported. This represents 33% and 34% growth respectively over 2023 totals." (Storage + Solar) is a solution that we can finance - reach out to learn more! https://lnkd.in/efRdGi6R

80% of new electricity generating additions are storage and solar. Abby Hopper, go represent our industry at CERA!
This year, #solar and #storage will be major players at #CERAWeek. ? And it’s about time. ? CERAWeek is often called the world’s preeminent energy conference — a “Super Bowl” of the global energy sector. It attracts energy business leaders, policymakers, engineers, and energy enthusiasts and, for most of its history, it’s traditionally focused on oil and gas. ? But that’s changing — solar and energy storage are stepping into the spotlight. ? Why? Because we’re no longer a niche technology, we’re a critical pillar of American energy dominance. ? With AI, data centers, and electrification driving unprecedented energy demand, we need power that is scalable, reliable, affordable, and, most importantly, fast. ? Solar is delivering. ? Solar and storage made up over 80% of new electricity generating additions last year and comprises 75% of capacity in development. We’re a $64 billion industry that is delivering adding critical capacity to our energy mix while at the same time, manufacturing enough modules in the United States to meet nearly all the demand for solar. ? Thanks to strong solar growth, strong private sector investment, and strong policy, America is reclaiming its leadership in energy production and solar is leading the way. ? This year at CERAWeek, expect to hear a lot more about how solar is driving the next era of American Energy Dominance. ? Who else is ready for a bigger solar presence at CERAWeek? Let’s connect!

SDG co-founder Catherine L. was invited to speak on the outlook for solar and storage with E-Discuss at 9Zero Climate Innovation Hub. As the industry evolves with policy changes, increased domestic production, and rising energy demand (accelerated by AI), addressing grid reliability and growing power outages has never been more urgent. Building out solar and energy storage capacity is critical to providing flexible, distributed generation and lower-cost electricity. We’re excited to keep pushing the energy transition forward. #ClimateTech #Solar #BatteryStorage #Grid
?? Powerful night at 9Zero! ?? Last night, we had the pleasure of hosting Catherine L., Co-Founder & COO of Sunrock Distributed Generation, for an incredible discussion on the outlook for solar + battery storage in these turbulent times. Huge thanks to Catherine, Ian Monroe, E-Discuss and everyone who joined us! Looking forward to more inspiring conversations ahead. ?? #ClimateTech #Solar #BatteryStorage #Entrepreneurship #9Zero

Please take a listen to Thomas Loredo from Sunrock Distributed Generation as he talks about commercial solar adoption!
??? The Watts Working Podcast: 3 Game-Changing Conversations in 1 Post – The Future of Solar, Energy Efficiency & EV Charging! As the energy landscape rapidly evolves, I’ve had the privilege of speaking with industry leaders who are shaping the future of solar, energy efficiency, and EV infrastructure. Here are key takeaways from three game-changing conversations: ? Unlocking the Power of Solar with Thomas Loredo, Sales Director at Sunrock Distributed Generation Tom shared how solar panel efficiency has skyrocketed—from 120W panels in the early days to 500W today. He highlighted innovative financing options like Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Sunrock’s unique underwriting approach, which looks beyond credit scores to support smaller businesses. With American-made solar products and tax credit step-ups on the horizon, Tom sees 2025 as a pivotal year for commercial solar adoption. ?? Transforming Homes with Energy Efficiency featuring Tom Harrington, CEO of Eco Approach The UK’s push for energy-efficient homes is gaining traction, yet millions still have EPC ratings of D or lower. Tom emphasized that education is the biggest barrier—many homeowners don’t realize how accessible upgrades like heat pumps and solar panels can be. Government schemes like ECO4 are making a difference, but awareness and clear communication remain key to accelerating adoption. ?? Revolutionising EV Charging with Tony Booth ????, Founder of Stay-N-Charge By 2035, we’ll need 500 million EV chargers worldwide, with a massive opportunity for businesses to integrate charging solutions. Tony’s "Always Be Charging" vision highlights how hotels, workplaces, and residential buildings must prepare for rising EV adoption. Stay and Charge’s integration with access control systems is simplifying deployment, and digital payment innovations will soon make charging as seamless as buying a coffee. ?? Key Takeaway: Whether it’s solar, home energy efficiency, or EV infrastructure, the transition is happening now. The businesses that prepare today will be the ones that thrive ?? To listen to the full episodes the links are in the comments. As we continue into 2025, The Watts Working Podcast will bring you insights from the leaders shaping the energy transition. In "No blackouts or cost increases due to 100?% clean, renewable electricity powering California for parts of 98?days," a report from Stanford, researchers found that renewables "supply exceeded 100% of electricity demand for parts of a record 98 out of 116 days on California's main grid" - without any grid failures. Thanks Jamie Skaar for sharing! https://lnkd.in/e5QGRSf7

ESG Investor wrote an article which quoted our Claire Broido Johnson: “Grid resilience is something the Trump administration wants, and it can be achieved by building out the distributed grid in local communities,” says Broido Johnson. “We will see more and more power outages across the US and will need new forms of electricity generation. Solar-plus-storage is the one-two punch of distributed generation that is non-intermittent, cost-effective, and can help to increase resilience.” “Our grid is simply not able to handle the huge electricity demand from AI data centres and crypto,” Broido Johnson adds. “We will have to build a lot more transmission capacity, but there’s NIMBY [not in my backyard] issues and no one really wants more transmission lines. Many investors will be focusing on distributed generation going forward.”
#Renewable #energy investing may not die under #Trump, after all. In fact, parts of it may thrive. Here is why: https://lnkd.in/en-6GNKV Many thanks to Brian D.
