  • Our Prevention Team had the incredible opportunity to present at Cherry Creek School District’s Student Health Summit on Tuesday. This annual professional development event brings together nearly 400 health and mental health professionals, all dedicated to supporting students’ well-being. Their presentation, “Partners in Safety”, focused on how SungateKids collaborates with school districts like CCSD to protect students from child abuse and support those who have experienced trauma. We were thrilled to have over 50 professionals join the session to learn more about the vital programs we offer to the community. We’re so grateful for the chance to share our mission and strengthen these important partnerships! ???? #SungateKids #PartnersInSafety #ChildAbusePrevention

Last week, we had the privilege of hosting our Missing to Murdered Case Study Workshop. This interactive training explored the tragic case of a missing juvenile who was murdered by a local gang, highlighting the key roles of the MDT in securing justice. With over 180 attendees, this workshop was an incredible success! Participants engaged in interactive trainings including the High Risk Victim Model, media coverage and response, social media, and investigative tools. A huge thank you to our expert trainer, Detective John Witherspoon from Montgomery County’s Special Victims Investigation Unit. His work on this case earned him the 2018 Missing Children’s Law Enforcement Award from the U.S. Department of Justice. And a special shoutout to our amazing Forensic Interviewers for organizing this impactful training! ???? #SungateKids #CaseStudyWorkshop #MissingToMurdered #ChildAdvocacy #JusticeForChildren #InvestigativeTools

Ever wondered what it takes to be a forensic interviewer? Imagine talking to a child about the worst thing they’ve ever experienced—carefully choosing every word, while staying neutral to avoid leading them. That’s just part of the role. At SungateKids, forensic interviewing is both an art and a science, requiring extensive training, experience, and adaptability. Each interview is unique, and our team draws from multiple protocols to meet every child’s needs. For bilingual children or those who don’t speak English, it’s an even more nuanced process. Behind the scenes, a multidisciplinary team—including detectives, caseworkers, and attorneys—watches in real-time to ensure the best outcomes for the child. “Is it hard to hear these stories? Yes,” says Dulce, our bilingual forensic interviewer. “But it’s an honor to be the person a child trusts to tell their story. We know healing is possible, and the first step is being heard.” Our forensic interviewers provide a lifeline for children, helping them find their voice and begin their journey to healing. ???? #ForensicInterviewing #SungateKids #HopeAndHealing

As the holidays draw near, it’s a great time to talk to your kids about consent and body autonomy. Remind them that they don’t owe anyone a hug or a kiss—no matter the occasion. Encourage your children to trust their instincts and let them know it’s okay to say “no” to physical touch they’re not comfortable with. Teaching kids that they are in charge of their own bodies is an essential step toward body safety. If someone ever touches them in a way that feels unsafe or uncomfortable, they should always tell a trusted adult. Let’s empower our kids with the tools they need to feel safe and confident! ?? #sungatekids #bodysafety #parentingtips #holidaysafety #kidsfirst #stopabuse #protectchildren

Colorado Gives When two young sisters bravely disclosed that a trusted family friend had been abusing them, their parents sought help from SungateKids. In that moment of despair, our team stepped in to guide the family through an unimaginable crisis toward healing and hope. At SungateKids, these sisters found a safe space.
