These were materials most people considered unrecyclable. But we took a chance and we jumped into the unknown, convinced that we could find a way to turn trash into value. After endless research and failed attempts, we launched our symbolic Ombak Chair, made from 2,000 plastic bags, a material not recyclable in Indonesia. Our products are now being used around the world as a conversation starter that waste can be a resource. Sungai Design just turned 1 a few days ago, and being named “Most Innovative Companies of 2025” motivates us to keep exploring new materials, to continue researching, and to continue innovating. This is just the beginning. We have so much more to discover about our waste — Our dream is to repurpose every wasted material out there — welcome to the modern world of mining.
