Are you improving your manufacturing productivity? Our latest application note shows you how to calculate space-time yield – a critical metric for comparison of upstream biomanufacturing processes. We show that continuous fermentation in our bioreactor system can achieve much higher space-time yields than fed-batch and that Pichia pastoris can achieve higher space-time yields than CHO even when you assume that CHO cells have 5-fold higher specific productivity. Over the past two days, I participated in the BioMaP-Consortium | Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Preparedness Consortium's industry day, an event focused on the future of biopharmaceutical manufacturing and preparedness for global health emergencies. At the event, I had the chance to engage with a range of thought-provoking presentations where industry leaders addressed vital topics, including the role of biopharma in future pandemics and strategies for overcoming challenges in supply chain and manufacturing scalability. The Enabling Platforms breakout session had a particularly engaging discussion of the role of #continuousbiomanufacturing and #automation in achieving preparedness and cost effectiveness for medical countermeasure production. These conversations carry significant implications for public health and the future of our industry. It’s always great to connect with forward-thinking individuals that are making a health impact.
