Absolutely epic moment for Our Old Kentucky Home if we do say so ourselves. This is Perry County, Kentucky. Where mountaintops have been literally blown up in the interest of extracting carbon-based fuels to power our lives. This is a specialized planter of Miscanthus x giganteus developed and deployed by Travis Hedrick's AMAZING team at AGgrow Tech. This plant will put carbon back in the soil AND it will, like its predecessor coal, fuel our lives. Thank you to EVERYONE who has been part of getting this company and this work to this point. Thank you Andy Ackley Ph.D for leading this planting project. Typical day here at Sunflower Fuels. Jam-packed with collaboration and content. We started with a quick check-in with Tim Donovan at Donovan Energy to discuss our slightly revised pitch deck and biomass refining. Then we zipped up to 1819 Innovation Hub to do some pitch practice with our fellow #sustainablecincy cohort members. We got excellent targeted feedback from cohort alumna Nicole Armstrong and our partners at Flywheel Social Enterprise Hub, Donna Zaring and Samuel Baker. Then it was off to Lexington! Along the way, Andy Ackley Ph.D and Gabrielle Blocher touched base about our upcoming planting, which is DAYS away, and we attended a webinar put on by the Agile BioFoundry on accelerating bioproduct R&D. In Lexington, we were hosted by Tom Keene and Ray Smith at the University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. We got to see two mobile pelletizers, which were developed, built, and tested by them a few years back, as well as a stand of Miscanthus x giganteus, pictured below! Again, a big day.
