In this week's market update, "Markets Await PCE Data in Holiday-Shortened Week", our Wealth Management team analyzes market activity from the past week. Third quarter earnings season has effectively concluded with 95% of S&P 500 companies reporting results. With earnings season in the rearview mirror, the first two days of the holiday-shortened week is light on market moving data releases. Trading volume will likely be low throughout the week as market participants take time off for Thanksgiving. However, the October PCE report is released on Wednesday, which contains the all-important core PCE Price Index – the Fed’s preferred measure of inflation. It should be noted that reduced liquidity can amplify swings in asset prices. Read more and download the full Weekly Market Update: https://trst.in/LaNng1

In this week's market update, "Markets Fluctuate as Post-Election Trade Continues", our Wealth Management team analyzes market activity from the past week. Broad market equity indexes gave back much of their post-election gains this week, although pockets of relative euphoria remain. The S&P 500 fell -2% and the Nasdaq 100 fell -3% after the two indexes notched mid-single digit percent increases last week. While most equity indexes declined this week, animal spirits are alive and well in certain speculative corners of the market. Bitcoin’s momentum continued - the cryptocurrency rose 20% on the week to more than $90,000 and is now up almost 120% year to date. Stocks that are expected to benefit from the new administration extended post-election gains as well. Turning to bonds, yields rose further as traders continue to price a Trump presidency and incrementally hawkish comments from Fed officials. With earnings season mostly in the rearview mirror, all eyes will be on Nvidia, which reports after the close on Wednesday. In this week's market update, our Wealth Management team explores "Markets React to a Trump Victory". The American people decisively elected Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States. Down the ballot, the Republican Party regained control of the Senate, and although some House races have yet to be officially determined, a Republican trifecta appears to be the most likely outcome. Equities and other risk assets cheered the outcome of the election and bond yields rose across the curve. Traders will contemplate the impact of Trump’s proposed policies on economic growth, inflation, and the deficit in the weeks leading up to Inauguration Day.
