Centuries of discrimination and exploitation have left an enormous wealth gap between Black and white households, standing at $11T in the US alone. That's unacceptable. As a Black-founded business with humble beginnings that has remained Black-led and Black-inspired, we recognize the power of entrepreneurship to address racial inequality. We believe that commerce can bring true economic independence. It's via grants and funding that we are able uplift & support Black founders, Black businesses, and entrepreneurs.

This week, we celebrated Black Business month with the SheaMoisture & She Did That Renae Bluitt BusinessThat Bonds launch dinner. Business That Bonds is an initiative aimed at enhancing opportunities for small business owners through financial support and increased visibility at culturally significant events to strengthen community ties and create lasting partnerships. Celebrating Black Business Month, we brought in 10 women-led businesses in NYC to vend with us at CURLFEST at Prospect Park during our first of many marketplaces under the initiative. SheaMoisture’s Beauty That Bonds campaign is more than a nod to its newest innovation. With everything we do, we intentionally celebrate Black women’s hair, skin and journey. At this year’s #EssenceFestival we celebrated the #BeautyThatBonds women as co-founders and agents of change. Congrats to Donnas Recipe co-founders Gina Woods and Tabitha Brown, and Felecia Hatcher Head of Pharrell’s Black Ambition and Danyel Surrency Jones Head of Amazon Undiscovered & Small Business Accelerator. And a special thank you to our partner Insights Markeitng and Keshia Walker for giving SheaMoisture an opportunity to host its annual #WomenEnBlanc brunch honoring the collective of phenomenal Black women leading talent and change across many industries. The secret is out! NYC artist,?Rachel Motley teamed up with SheaMoisture to design these incredible limited-edition Coconut & Hibiscus toiletries bags filled with goodies to keep you glam on vacation and beyond! Our partnership with Rachel started in 2021 in collaboration with MACRO Media where we powered a series called Watch Them Work. This series launched a nationwide search to find HBCU students who are establishing their careers well before walking the stage and hopefully, making it big. The series followed them to learn how they juggle the demands of it all - classes, business, college life – all leading up to graduation and beyond.
