Project Manager for SCB’s Renovation Division Jamie Alexander considers each day on site an accomplishment. She’s proud of building strong relationships and trust with clients, coworkers, subcontractors and others. Jamie started off in construction early, learning and absorbing information that sets her up for success throughout her career. ??♀? Now, 17 years later, in a male-dominant industry, she enjoys surprising people with her wealth of knowledge. #WomenInConstruction #WomenInConstructionWeek #SunCountryBuilders #BuildWithUs

Assistant Superintendent Celia Buckner had an early introduction to construction. She helped her father rebuild her mother’s childhood home. From there, her family supported her love to build things. ????♀? A Navy veteran, Celia understands working in male-dominant fields and the misconceptions, but she doesn’t shy from exploring her passions and collaborating with her team. One of her first accomplishments was getting three elevators at the same project to pass a state inspection on the first try – a big feat in the industry. Celia says her favorite part of working in construction is the constant learning. Celia asks questions and welcomes new ways to learn from new faces. #WomenInConstruction #WomenInConstructionWeek #VeteransInConstruction #SunCountryBuilders #BuildWithUs

A longtime project manager in other industries, SCB Project Manager Kimberly Nichols transitioned to a career in construction more than 12 years ago and she hasn’t looked back. ??????♀? Kim – a San Diego State University and National University graduate who is part of our renovation division – appreciates that construction is both creative and practical. Kim enjoys problem solving with her team and is not above getting a little “dirty.” She’s been known to step in wherever needed, whether to realign a door or do touch up painting. To women considering a career in construction, Kim says, “Don’t hesitate, the skills we contribute are openly appreciated and celebrated.”? #WomenInConstruction #WomenInConstructionWeek #SunCountryBuilders #BuildWithUs

As an Assistant Superintendent Evelyn Smith helps oversee the work done in the field – working to keep everyone safe and problem solve.??♀? For Evelyn, the end result is just as exciting as the process. She never tires of seeing new residents’ joy as they settle into in their building. Time and again she’s watched as families and seniors express how happy they are to simply have space. Evelyn left a career in nursing and never regretted it. Now, Evelyn appreciates her coworkers-turned-friends and encourages women to never be afraid to try something new. She says, “Don’t think twice. Just jump in there!” #WomenInConstruction #WomenInConstructionWeek #SunCountryBuilders #BuildWithUs

DeAnna’s most memorable project was her first?new construction project?as a?Project Manager, Villa de Vida, which houses adults with developmental disabilities – where she also participated in a holiday donation drive and tree-planting activities.? ? DeAnna says her favorite part of construction is the collaboration, coordination and teamwork that goes into building each project and says this to women interested in a career in construction: “Don’t hesitate! Where would the world be in the fields of medicine, technology,?law, etc.,?if not for women’s contributions??We have so much to contribute in the construction field, too.” ? #WomenInConstruction #SunCountryBuilders #BuildWithUs
