关于我们

Sun+Earth Certified is a nonprofit, third-party certification for regenerative organic cannabis. We certify cannabis that is grown under the sun, in the soil of Mother Earth, without chemicals by fairly paid farmers. Sun+Earth aims to create a world where cannabis is grown for the well-being of all people, farmers, and the planet. The Three Pillar of Sun+Earth Certification 1. Earth Care & Cultivation These standards represent an evolution beyond organic by embracing the concept of regeneration by building soil quality. 2. Human Empowerment These standards also address the rights of farm workers, who as a social group within agriculture have been long exploited and marginalized. 3. Community Engagement The standard requires the farm to engage their local community with greater focus and attention.

THIS IS WHY SUN+EARTH CERTIFIED MATTERS!!! An investigation by the LA Times in conjunction with cannabis industry newsletter,?Weed Week News, found alarming levels of pesticides in cannabis products available in dispensaries across the state. Over half of the legal cannabis products that the LA Times and Weed Week purchased from retail stores that had been tested in private labs showed concentrations of pesticides either above levels the state allowed or at levels that exceed federal standards for tobacco. Some products contained as many as two dozen pesticides! What’s even more shocking is that many of the pesticides found in these contaminated products are not required to be tested for in California. The state requires testing for 66 different pesticides, a list unchanged since 2018 and clearly needs an update. Unfortunately, the majority of cannabis currently sold in California presents no on-package labeling that explains how it was sourced and grown, and specifically what pesticides or other chemical inputs were used in its production. The Sun+Earth Certified seal, however, provides consumers with the confidence that their cannabis was grown without toxic chemicals. To become a Sun+Earth Certified farm, there are many rigorous standards to adhere to that include pesticide use. Products allowed must be OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) Certified, which are permitted for use in organic farming practices. We require an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach to prevent and control pests and diseases. S+E farms incorporate cultural controls, like crop rotation, introducing natural predators, and mulching for weed control. We allow organic approved bio-pesticides, which are naturally occurring derived from animals, plants, bacteria, and certain minerals. The use of natural essential oils, horticultural oils, like neem, and beneficial microbes and insects are approved practices. These approaches are much kinder on the environment and on human health. Each year our farms are inspected confirming their commitment to the standards that ensure that none of the synthetic, toxic, cancer causing chemicals mentioned in The LA Times article are ever used by Sun+Earth farmers. https://lnkd.in/g7nehT_Q
